PTI March 2013 Blog Hop: Sequins

Blog-hop-logo

Our challenge this month was to use sequins.

Yes, I really do know someone celebrating her 91st birthday this month. Started with a Rose Red card base, rounded one corner and added a strip of paper from LilyBee Designs. Added sequins that are very close in color to PTI's Hawaiian Shores. The "happy" die cut from Aqua Mist is stamped using Hawaiian Shores and backed with a second die cut from SU Going Gray to create a shadow. After die cutting the "91" from By The Numbers and "st" from the Block Alphabet Dies using SU Pretty in Pink cardstock, I ran them through my BigShot using a Sizzix Swiss Dots embossing folder and sponged some ink on them. I popped these up using SU's dimensionals. To finish it off with some added bling, I misted the card with Shimmer Sparkle.

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamp Sets: Pretty Peonies
Dies: By The Numbers Dies and Block Alphabet Dies
Cardstock: Aqua Mist, SU Rose Red, SU Pretty in Pink and Lily Bee Designs Head Over Heels
Ink: Hawaiian Shores
Other: Sequins from JoAnn's, Sizzix Swiss Dots EF, Shimmer Sparkle & Sponge Daubers, Corner Rounder

Birthday Boutique & Butterflies

This birthday card was created based on PTI's Make It Monday #108: Inked Backgrounds shown by  Heather Nichols on Nichole Heady's blog. My card base is PTI's Simply Chartreuse. After stamping two sizes of butterflies from PTI's Beautiful Butterflies stamp set using VersaMark, I heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Using a sponge dauber, I applied several inks in a circular motion until I got the look I wanted. Then I wiped the ink of the embossed butterflies. This was applied to my card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

My sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday was stamped using Memento black ink on vellum cardstock creating a flag banner. To finish it off, I added the black/white twine and tied a bow.

Hope Your Day Is Fabulous

Entered this card in Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #106: Two-Toned Stamped Flowers. This technique was demonstrated by Melissa Phillips. Since I didn't have a third color selected for this layout, I made my flowers by stamping off using SU Pink Passion ink for the second half. Half of the leaves were stamped off once with SU Green Galore ink.

Stamp Sets: Turning A New Leaf, Beautiful Blooms II & Signature Greetings
Cardstock: New Leaf and Raspberry Fizz

Just testing this out to see if it's something I really care to pursue since I only know how to read blogs…not post on them. So, be kind and you might see more from me on future posts.
