12 Kits of Occasions - January 2017 Guest

In the middle of December, I was notified by Lindsey at Occasional Crafting that I was the lucky winner of her January kit for 12 Kits of Occasions. What is that, you ask? Well, it's a group of 12 papercrafting friends who take their turn providing a supply kit to each member of the group. Each kit contains the same items and on the last day of the month, every member posts their own creations utilizing bits and pieces from their kit.

I've been admiring these gals and their blog posts for quite some time. It always amazes me how many different ways the same supplies are used. This month I was so excited when I opened my kit, and now I'm eager to get some cool ideas from others to use my remaining supplies. Thanks, Lindsey, for offering up a fantastic "extra" kit, and to Random Generator for choosing my number. Here's what was included:

(Photo compliments of Lindsey)

Without further ado, here are the five cards I created using just some of the kit's elements.  Since I don't own a fancy camera, I apologize for the poor quality of photos. I still have several stamped images, patterned paper and embellishments left for future use. Don't you just adore the color scheme and theme Lindsey chose? I sure do as we definitely could use more love and adoration in this world. (wink-wink)

It's difficult to see the glittery shimmer of the "love" die-cut, but it's gorgeous IRL. Created this design on PTI's Ocean Tides card base from my supplies. The rest of the goodies were in the kit.

If you look closely, you can see my score lines on the peachy layer with the black ink splatters. Turned the sentiment into a banner flag with a black backing.

Isn't this beautiful patterned paper? It pretty much created the card itself. Backed this sentiment using PTI Vellum.

My first ever shaker card, and it was actually fun to use the mini beads provided. I ink-blended two hearts using negative die-cuts to add color to the Soft Stone card base, including some ink splatters.

Just had to break out my new A2 Scalloped Vertical Dies for this card base and cover it with patterned paper. Used a banner die for the sentiment. Felt it needed more bling than a few sequins, but my Wink of Stella glitter brush only lightened up the flower and leaves. Not what I expected!

Be sure to stop by 12 Kits of Occasions to see what the official team members did with their kits. I guarantee you'll see lots of fabulous creations.

Edited to add: Entering these also at Word Art Wednesday and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes

Happy Valentine's Day to all and thanks for stopping by. I sincerely appreciate your comments.

Kathy, you did such an AMAZING job! I'm so glad you won my kit. You've made it look beautiful! :) For one, I'm amazed that you actually could capture the shimmer in the photo...I couldn't. lol. And hooray for your first shaker! I love the way seed bead shakers sound. They are my favorite, and I don't make them often enough. You added such fun touches to each and every card...the scallop card vs. just a straight edge, the score lines and black splatters, the double colored twine...you had me oohing and ahhing all the way through!

So happy to have you join us this month! Must start by saying that I love your header! We had a similar sunset last night, of course without the water. Your cards are all fantastic! Love the shaker--such a wonderful design! Aren't they fun--now you will want to do many more!

Hi Kathy! I think your cards are amazing! I love love LOVE the pineapples (you picked the perfect paper for the backgrounds) and that LOVE die cut in the center of the scallop circle. Eye candy!

Kathy, how wonderful to have you join us this month, and look at all you created! WOW! I love that you took the hugs sentiment and made it into a shaker card with those little seed beads :) The first love one is definitely my favorite, I love the layout and colors and of course the love! Also the way you used both pineapples together is great. I have always loved pineapples (both to eat and because I went to hospitality college). Cool that we both chose the same paper to go with them, too :)
