12 Kits of Occasions - January 2017 Guest

In the middle of December, I was notified by Lindsey at Occasional Crafting that I was the lucky winner of her January kit for 12 Kits of Occasions. What is that, you ask? Well, it's a group of 12 papercrafting friends who take their turn providing a supply kit to each member of the group. Each kit contains the same items and on the last day of the month, every member posts their own creations utilizing bits and pieces from their kit.

I've been admiring these gals and their blog posts for quite some time. It always amazes me how many different ways the same supplies are used. This month I was so excited when I opened my kit, and now I'm eager to get some cool ideas from others to use my remaining supplies. Thanks, Lindsey, for offering up a fantastic "extra" kit, and to Random Generator for choosing my number. Here's what was included:

(Photo compliments of Lindsey)

Without further ado, here are the five cards I created using just some of the kit's elements.  Since I don't own a fancy camera, I apologize for the poor quality of photos. I still have several stamped images, patterned paper and embellishments left for future use. Don't you just adore the color scheme and theme Lindsey chose? I sure do as we definitely could use more love and adoration in this world. (wink-wink)

It's difficult to see the glittery shimmer of the "love" die-cut, but it's gorgeous IRL. Created this design on PTI's Ocean Tides card base from my supplies. The rest of the goodies were in the kit.

If you look closely, you can see my score lines on the peachy layer with the black ink splatters. Turned the sentiment into a banner flag with a black backing.

Isn't this beautiful patterned paper? It pretty much created the card itself. Backed this sentiment using PTI Vellum.

My first ever shaker card, and it was actually fun to use the mini beads provided. I ink-blended two hearts using negative die-cuts to add color to the Soft Stone card base, including some ink splatters.

Just had to break out my new A2 Scalloped Vertical Dies for this card base and cover it with patterned paper. Used a banner die for the sentiment. Felt it needed more bling than a few sequins, but my Wink of Stella glitter brush only lightened up the flower and leaves. Not what I expected!

Be sure to stop by 12 Kits of Occasions to see what the official team members did with their kits. I guarantee you'll see lots of fabulous creations.

Edited to add: Entering these also at Word Art Wednesday and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes

Happy Valentine's Day to all and thanks for stopping by. I sincerely appreciate your comments.

PTI MIM #273: Spinner Cards

Lizzie Jones was the star of the show this week with her Make It Monday video for Papertrey Ink. She shared her tips on making an interactive spinner card. I haven't really been much into interactive cards, but I just had to try this after watching Lizzie create her sweet Valentine. Because I spent the day reorganizing stamps and dies, I barely had time to play. After two phone calls from friends and then watching the Tom Brokaw special on NBC, I just had to prove to myself that I could do this technique. Without further ado, here's my blue anniversary card with a spin.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

Papertrey January Blog Hop Challenge 2017

Did that inspiration photo for this month's Blog Hop Challenge at Papertrey have you drooling for beautifully frosted sugar cookies? The colors sure pop on the black background.

photograph from Julie Baerwald

I was so inspired by the cookies I made two cards: the first totally from scratch, and the second using a mini kit. Sounds just like I was baking, doesn't it?

Thought my new Fancy Foliage Details Dies (NBUS as Darnell would say) might work beautifully with Rosie Posie. If you enlarge the photo, you can see how I highlighted Step 2 of Rosie Posie using my Gelly Roll Glitter Pen.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Basic Black, Raspberry Fizz and New Leaf
Ink: Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz and Pure Poppy
Stamps: Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2
Dies: Rosie Posie, Fancy Foliage Details, Swoosh, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical and MFT Stitched Rectangles
Other: White Foam, Stampin' Up Dimensionals and Gelly Roll Glitter Pen

This is the first time I used the dies from this fabulous kit with the preprinted florals. Lining them up was easy (thanks, Betsy), but it was still more time consuming than anticipated. Definitely worth the effort though...at least in my opinion. What to you think?

Some of the die-cuts were popped up for added dimension and highlighted with glossy accents to look more like icing. Popped up the "love" sentiment on white foam, adhered to a white card base and called it finished. Off hopping to see what others created for the challenge!

PTI Make It Monday #271: 2016 A La Carte

Nichole refreshed our memories of every 2016 Make It Monday Challenge by Papertrey Ink. The A La Carte means we can choose any one of the weekly technique videos to create a project. You can see the technique I chose, Make It Monday #244: Score Lines, done by Laurie Willison. This is a great way to add a little extra detail and texture. I apologize that it was difficult to photograph at night showing the various lengths of vertical score lines from the top to the Bold Blossoms. Here's what I created:
