Papertrey February Blog Hop Challenge 2017

Another month is coming to an end, and it was a busy one with 10 days of activities at Papertrey Ink. Since we were on vacation for most of it, I was only able to participate in a few of the first challenges. Trying to get back into the swing of card making, I decided to squeeze in a card today for PTI's February Blog Hop Challenge instead of doing laundry. There's always tomorrow to catch up on household chores. Just look at the gorgeous image Nichole provided this month.

Knew as soon as I saw it that I would use the wreath from MIM Mini Kit: Lovely Laurels, but that was all. Besides that, my DH's aunt will be turning 99 on February 28. This is what I came up with inspired by the black, gold and pink color combination. I sure hope she likes it!

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments. Due to being ill for two weeks and then on vacation for another 10 days, I'm way behind in commenting even though I've peeked at a few blogs. I'll make a real effort this week to get back to blog hopping and commenting.

PTI Celebrating the Past, Present and Future: 2010

Moving through the past 10 years at Papertrey Ink, we're looking back at 2010. A few of the sets showcased are: A Wreath for All Seasons, Year of Flowers Sweet Peas, Beautiful Blooms II, Take Three Summer and Love Lives Here. It's fun to see cards created seven years ago and also now using current trends. Because A Wreath for All Seasons has been on my wish list forever, I was inspired by this card by Maile.

I turned to my Make It Market Mini Kit: Lovely Laurels for my wreath and love the results. Thanks, Maile, for the inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI Celebrating Past, Present and Future: 2009

Day 3 of PTI's 10th Anniversary Celebration includes cards from the past and present using sets introduced in 2009 by Papertrey Ink. Once again I don't own any of those either, which included Damask Designs, Fruitful, Giga Guidelines, On My Couch and Simple Valentine. This almost leads you to believe that my stamping supplies are very limited, but my husband says otherwise.

No way could I come close to this beautiful card by Laurie Schmidlin, but I pulled out my Lovely Layers set to give the technique a try.

Because I'm supposed to be packing for our trip tomorrow, I had to hurry and didn't have time to start over. Sorry, no time for re-do's. Remind me that I do not like Smokey Shadow ink (should have used black). I need a lighter gray.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI Celebrating the Past, Present and Future: 2008

As part of Papertrey Ink's 10th Anniversary, they are revisiting previously-released products from 2007-2016 over the next 10 days. Today we're celebrating 2008. I don't own any of the stamp sets mentioned on Nichole's blog but was definitely inspired by Keeway's card.

She did some offset stamping using solid and outline images and so did I for my sympathy card below.

PTI Celebrating the Past, Present and Future: 2007

First challenge of 10 days celebrating Papertrey Ink's 10th Anniversary in business is to use a stamp set featured here that was introduced in 2007. The sets showcased include Beautiful Blooms, Green Thumb, Out to Sea, Spiral Bouquet and Text Boxed. Because I don't own any of these, I was inspired by Maile's Out To Sea card.

Here's what I came up with using one of their newer stamp sets, Swan'sational.

PTI MIM #275: Stamped Dangles

Amy introduced us to "dangles" in the card-making environment. She made it look so easy here on Nichole's blog for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday. Let me just say, I scoured my stamp sets trying to find jewlery-like embellishments just so I could play along. One more challenge to cross of my list. I'm needing to rebuild my stash of birthday cards, anniversary, sympathy and get-well wishes. Bring on this month's challenges for Papertrey Ink's 10 years in business.

Here's my version of stamped dangles:

PTI MIM #274: Pattern Play with Die Cut Silhouettes

Have been trying to cope with this horrible sinus infection rather than playing with paper, stamps and dies. Just couldn't pass up this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday though because it's all about using some of my hoarded patterned paper. I actually used five different designs. And besides that, I have some "new to me" PTI pads due to ship any day now hopefully.

Lexi shared some great examples of mixing patterns on her blog and in the video here. My brain just wasn't working properly so with hopes of making it easier on myself I went with balloons, too.
Note to self: Never use foam and Sizzix adhesive sheets on the "Celebrate Today" die. It took me forever, was all tangled up, stuck together, foam stretched and so on…but I went with it anyway.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.
