PTI MIM #255: String Art Using Die-Cuts

This week's Make It Monday Challenge on Nichole's blog was instigated by Amy, and she shared some gorgeous examples using string art accents and focal points using die-cuts. Her video was very detailed and easy to understand. I should have just copied her using the same die-cuts, but I opted to figure out my own.

Modern Background Stencil in Simply Chartreuse on my white card base is the backdrop for my focal image. I wrapped old SU green/white twine up and down the spiral notebook die for my string art. Leaves and blooms are from Color Pops Floral in Melon Berry and Canyon Clay. Sentiments in Simply Chartreuse and splattered all three ink colors in the white space. Added a little Shimmer Wink of Stella to the flower centers, then a piece of striped paper to the bottom before adhering to Canyon Clay. Off to see what other fabulous ideas are out there.

Edited to Add: Also entering "Creative with Stamps" monthly challenge at CWS Challenge 4: Ink Splatters (thanks to Helen)

PTI MIM #165: Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds

Had every intention of posting this earlier until a dear friend called to chat. I'm not really very "artsy" but wanted to try Betsy Veldman's watercolor technique as shown in this week's Make It Monday for Papertrey Ink.

Using PTI's Mum's The Word stamp set on Stamper's Select White cardstock, I inked up three different size mums with Harvest Gold, Tempting Turquoise and Pink Passion. With water and brush in hand, I drew out the inks to mimic Betsy's technique. When dried, that layer was cut in three pieces, adhered with SU dimensionals to "life" them up on the New Leaf cardstock and placed on a white card base. To finish it off, I added a little bling with coordinating sequins, stamped the sentiment from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday using New Leaf ink, and rounded two corners.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and New Leaf
Ink: New Leaf, Harvest Gold, SU Tempting Turquoise and SU Pink Passion
Stamps: Stylish Sentiments: Birthday and Mum's The Word
Dies: None
Other: Sequins (won from Jennifer McGuire) and Corner Chomper

PTI Make It Monday #115: Beyond Paper with Impression Plates

Here I am posting at the last minute again for the PTI Make It Monday challenge, which is to emboss on something other than paper. So, like others I used aluminum foil and PTI's Cane/Linen Impression Plate to emboss a Mat Stack #6 diecut. To make the foil stronger, I backed it with cardstock before embossing it. My colors in this high school graduation card reflect the school colors of silver and navy blue. Heather Nichol's showed us how to do this technique using aluminum tape.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: Spring Rain, SU Night of Navy and White
Ink: VersaMark and SU Night of Navy
Stamps: For The Graduate and 2012 Birthday Tags (stars)
Dies: Mat Stack #6, Cloud Dies and Sizzix Go Go Boots Alphabet (2013)
Other: Aluminum Foil, Zing Silver Metallic Embossing Powder, SU Scallop Trim Border Punch, SU rhinestones and SU Dimensionals

PTI Make It Monday #114: Blown Ink

Each week I tell myself I'm going to get this challenge done early in the week, and for whatever reason that never happens. So here I am racing to beat the clock once again. Dawn McVey showed us the blown ink technique using reinkers and a straw to create a unique design. Wish I had more time to play with this, because it was kind of fun even though out of my control. Please don't laugh when you see my card for PTI's MIM.

To soften the white edge, I sponged it using Memento London Fog.

Supplies:
Cardstock: White and SU Mauve Mist (retired)
Ink: SU Reinkers Cameo Coral, So Saffron, Mauve Mist, Forest Foliage & Bliss Blue and Memento London Fog
Stamps: PTI Communique Sentiments
Other: Corner Rounder, Silver sequins (Joann's) and SU Dimensionals

PTI Make It Monday #113: Perfect Pearls

Another challenge from Papertrey Ink that I just had to try was demonstrated by Nichole Heady, and I just had attempt this technique. Hopefully, this qualifies because the only Perfect Pearls I own are the mists, and I just picked those up about a month ago. Perfect Pearl is the color I used, and it definitely adds a pretty shimmer although hard to capture with my camera.

Now that I see this photographed, perhaps I should have made a wider dark chocolate strip to further enhance the sentiment on vellum. Will keep that in mind for next time…because it's too late now to redo.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: New Leaf, Dark Chocolate, Vellum and White
Ink: SU Green Galore and SU Chocolate Chip
Stamps: Boutique Borders: Birthday and Turning A New Leaf
Dies: Mat Stack #2
Other: Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearl, Micro Glue Dots, SU rhinestones and SU Dimensionals

PTI MIM #112: Embossed Alpha Die Cuts

Ashley Newell showed us how to add colors and textures to alpha or number die cuts by heat embossing. This is the current challenge for PTI's Make It Monday on Nichole Heady's blog. Almost hate to admit this task wasn't as easy as Ashley made it look. Perhaps I should have started earlier in the week but didn't get to my craft room until tonight. Wonderful Words: Hello die cut was stamped using VersaMark and the Half & Half plaid stamp before heat embossing with Stampin' Up's Melon Mambo embossing powder.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: Hawaiian Shores, New Leaf, White, and Country Charm by Diane Kappa
Ink: VersaMark
Stamps: Half & Half
Dies: Half & Half, Wonderful Words: Hello and Mat Stack #6
Other: Linen/Canvas Impression Plate, SU Melon Mambo Embossing Powder, rhinestones & SU Dimensionals

PTI MIM #111: Watercoloring Embossed Images

Heather Nichols showed us how to watercolor embossed images in PTI's current Make It Monday. Not only am I lacking experience in watercoloring, but I also realized I have very few stamps that would work well with this technique. The important thing is that I made it happen, and it's not bad for a rookie.

Edited to Add:  Adding this card to The Wonder of Watercolor Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
