PTI MIM #323: Cascading Die Cuts

This week it was Stephanie's turn to inspire us for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. It's all about creating die cuts cascading down the front of your card. Well, I didn't follow instructions right to the tee because I desperately need graduation cards. These kids grow up so fast that I didn't realize I need three more cards than I had planned on making.

Please forgive me, Stephanie, as I did use the concept of how you added die cuts over colored paper. Mine just aren't cascading down the front but rather side to side. By The Numbers dies were just a bit too big.

Ink: VersaMark and SU Brilliant Blue Marker

I tried this techique again on another graduation card and like this one better. Can you tell that I incorporated school colors for the grads? Love that added touch!

PTI MIM #284: Background Stamping with Sentiment Stamps

Sure is a good thing that Papertrey Ink has a weekly Make It Monday Challenge with the chance to win a $25 gift certificate. This certainly motivates me to get in my stamp room to create at least one card that I need in the near future. Today I followed Melissa's video sharing how she uses sentiment stamps to create a background and then appropriately embellishes the card. It's that time of year to make graduation cards, and I always design them specifically for the graduate using their school colors. Here's what I created today for a cousin's granddaughter.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!

PTI MIM $249: Make It With Money

This week it was Lexi Daly's turn to host Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge. She shared several ways to incorporate money gifts into the design of our handmade cards. Since I needed a high school graduation card for a nice young man, I decided to run with it using his school colors. Here's what I came up with so I hope he likes it. Of course, there will also be more money or a gift card to go with this. (We're not just giving him $1, but I like how it lined up the #1 front and center.)

If you look closely under the Congratulations from Swoosh, you can see the numbers 2016 ink blended in gray using the negative die cuts. Congratulations and the Scene It: Celebration consist of three layers for thickness. I popped up the graduation hat using SU Dimensionals and used a removable glue dot to attach the dollar-bill diploma. I'm sure that might just come in handy some day for this high school graduate. : )
