PTI November Blog Hop Challenge

Why is it I never seem to have the right stamps for these challenging? No candy cane stamp whatsoever. Guess I'll have to remedy that so it doesn't happen again. Anyway, it's time once again for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop. Here's the image to inspire us.

The shade of blue ribbon is like none of the blues I own so I capitalized on the red and white with a touch of Blueberry Sky. My holly was stamped in Pinefeather with red berries. This is the card I created that looks just like a gift box all decked out for Christmas.

Happy Hopping! I can't wait to see what others created based on the above photo.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted):
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White
Ink: Blueberry Sky and Pinefeather
Stamps: MFT Hand Lettered Holiday

PTI MIM #343: Masking & Ink Sponging

That Betsy Veldman is pretty amazing, isn't she? The latest challenge for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday uses Betsy's technique of combining masking with ink sponging/blending. All week I tried to come up with something other than snowflakes, but I failed. Also, I didn't have adhesive-backed vinyl so used Sizzix Adhesive Sheets. Big mistake! My saving grace was glitter because I could not get all the adhesive off of each image. Should have known permanent adhesive means permanent but I had a "duh" moment, I guess. This is it...there is no more!

Sorry, the glitter made it very difficult to photograph.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI Create Along With Us: November 2018

Because it was release week at Papertrey Ink, our challenge is to create something that inspired us using the Design Team creations and/or color schemes. You can find the details here. In honor of Heather Nichols bidding farewell with Papertrey Ink, I just had to incorporate Kraft card stock this month. Every time I use Kraft, I think of her because after all, she is the Queen of Kraft. Best of luck, Heather, and here's from one Minnesota-born gal to another!

PTI MIM #341: Painted Brushstroke Backgrounds

It's time once again for another Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey Ink. Dawn McVey shows us a quick and easy way to paint beautiful brushstroke backgrounds. She used acrylic paints but since I only have white, I used a paintbrush with my PTI ink pads on Stamper's Select White card stock. Now I want to invest in the same colors Dawn used because they are stunning. Look at her beautiful cards! Can't wait to get my hands on those Brushed Birds when the stamps and dies are in stock at the same time.

Since I'm pushing myself to get more Christmas cards made, I opted to use Pure Poppy and Pinefeather inks but with light brushstrokes. My foam brushes worked okay, but I can see where acrylic paint colors would be more vibrant. Anyway, it's getting late here so I'll wrap this up and share the two cards I made from my painted background.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI MIM #340: Banner-ific!

Good thing I started this challenge early because it took me a few days to get back to finishing this banner. Thanks, Michelle, for the inspiration on this week's Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday! She challenged us to create a banner for the upcoming holiday season. Look at how gorgeous hers is!

Those newly-released stamp sets and dies get me every time...already.  Love her nontraditional color scheme also.

Because I wanted to use my birch wrapping paper I bought last year, I went with the traditional red, white, green & black plus some silver thrown in there to add a little sparkle. Besides my total banner image, I also posted individual ones of all three tags. Looking forward to seeing what others created for this fun challenge!

The birch wrapping paper is quite thin so I backed each tag with two layers of white card stock. This also gives the backsides a nice finished look.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Pure Poppy
Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black and Pinefeather

Other: Birch Wrapping Paper (Pier 1), TH Tinsel Twine, Silver Twine, Darice Red Bells, SU Real Red Marker, Gelly Roll Glitter Dust and Foam Tape

PTI Create Along With Us: October 2018

It was just Release Week at Papertrey Ink so we get to create our own version from DT examples. The most challenging part of this is deciding on which project to use as my inspiration. There were so many awesome ones, and who doesn't love anything to do with the Christmas Season.

This time I chose a card created by Heather that looks like this.

Obviously, I couldn't CASE this because I don't have any of the new products she used, but I used similar colors and did my best with what I do have. Yay for another completed Christmas card!

To make it look more realistic, I topped the white snowfall with glitter glue and stacked my "peace" die-cuts three high for more dimension. If you enlarge the image, you'll see my polka-dot bow has a tiny white pearl in the center. And there you have it.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI MIM #339: Patterned Frames

This week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday is hosted by Ashley, and she showed three different cards adding patterns to a die-cut frame. I loved her examples, but of course, I don't own any of the frames she used. To the drawing board I went, and this is what I created. Chalk one up for another Christmas card completed!

PTI MIM #338: Incorporating Packaging Dies into Cards

This past week has been a busy one. Returned Tuesday afternoon from a week's vacation in Boston, and our bridge project was in full action through Thursday. We've only been waiting for the powers at be to approve replacing our existing bridge for almost four years. You cannot believe all the restrictions and required permits when working around water. Now that it's almost done, we are so relieved. Anyway, after completing household chores, I managed to squeeze in a small window of stamping to participate in this week's Make It Monday for Papertrey Ink. This challenge by Lizzie Jones is to incorporate packaging dies into cards, but she okayed the use of tags for those of us who don't own packaging dies. Thanks, Lizzie!

As I thought about this challenge, I was originally going to use Tag Sale #9 but decided to make a Christmas card using Enclosed: Bell. I think it looks like a box/package all decorated. Anyway, I'm going with that, and here it is.

(I'm way behind in blog surfing and commenting but hope to catch up this week.)

PTI Create Along With Us Challenge: September 2018

Had another busy week besides following along with Papertrey Ink's September Release. I'm only nine days away from my Boston trip with four girlfriends so we've been busy finalizing our plans. And good Lord willing, we'll get our new bridge installed this week!

Anyway, during Release Week PTI's Challenge is to create our own version of a card posted by a DT member that inspired us. Oh, how I wish I had more time to create now because there are so many awesome designs…and I love Christmas-related anything! This month I chose a card created by Heather showcasing her new Winter Fox set, and yes, she used Kraft card stock. I did, too.

Good thing I ordered more on Release Night because now I just have scraps left. Here's my take using supplies on hand.

PTI MIM #327: Ombré Watercolor Backgrounds

This week we are blessed with Betsy as our host for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. She shared a fun technique to create ombré watercolor backgrounds. Her card set is gorgeous and love the color combinations she used.

Since I wasn't thrilled with my first attempt trying to avoid using leaves, I still made two snowflake cards and one with leaves. This is what I did. Think this technique works best with solid stamps versus the line images of snowflakes.

Snowflakes using Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening and Bliss Blue.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted):
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White
Ink: Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening and VersaMark
Stamps: What The Doodle: Snowflakes and Stylish Sentiments: Holiday
Dies: None
Other: Canson Mixed Media, Paintbrush, SU Bliss Blue Marker and White Embossing Powder

Snowflakes using Amethyst Allure, Royal Velvet and Winter Wisteria.

Stamps: What The Doodle: Snowflakes and Happiest of Holidays

My third card is my favorite because of the richness using Americana, Dark Chocolate and Melon Berry for solid leaf images from Turning A New Leaf.

PTI Create Along With Us: March 2018

Well, this week hit the middle of March and that means another Release for Papertrey Ink on the 15th. During this time, they invite us to use the DT designed cards to inspire us to create our own. There are so many gorgeous projects shared that it's a bit challenging to decide which one to use as inspiration. I narrowed it down to two different designers this time. This first card was inspired by Keeway showcasing Glorious Globes March and Shape Shifters Oval 1. Here's her card.

This is my version. It's a two-fer as I not only completed the challenge, but I have a Christmas card in my stash for 2018. If you enlarge it, you can see the glittered snow using Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted):
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Mint Julep
Ink: Blueberry Sky, VersaFine Onyx Black and VersaMark
Stamps: In The Meadow and Stylish Sentiments: Holiday
Dies: Mat Stack #6 and In The Meadow
Other: VersaMark Pen, Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder, Foam Tape, Paintbrush (splatters) and Make-Up Brush (ink blending)

My second card was a spin-off of Melissa Bickford's sharing a fun card using Penned Elegance and A Bit More: Butterfly Blooms using lots of bright colors as shown below.

Rather than use a flower stamp like I use so often (because I don't have these beautiful butterflies…yet), I opted to use What The Doodle: Feathers in a similar design. It's fun to make one-layer cards occasionally, but they can be even more challenging than layering and using die-cuts. Here's mine.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted):
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White
Ink: Lovely Lady, Melon Berry, Bright Buttercup, Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores and VersaFine Onyx Black
Stamps: What The Doodle: Feathers, Jolly Holiday (stars) and Penned Elegance
Dies: None
Other: None

PTI Create Along With Us Challenge December 2017

Let's just say I'm still not done with Christmas cards, because I still have a few more people who would be disappointed with a store-bought card. However, that doesn't stop me from following this month's release and all the beautiful inspiration by Papertrey Ink's Design Team. You can see more on their new blog here. Details for this month's challenge can be found here where we are challenged to create our own version of something one of the designers shared during release week.

On Day 4 of the release, Keeway blew me away with her sweet Valentine and colorful die-cut windows.

However, I don't own the Fun Lovin' stamps and dies yet so I pulled out my Make It Market Mini Kit: Holiday Folk. Trust me when I tell you this wasn't that easy even using my MISTI. I need more practice and note to self: don't try this again when in a hurry. (lol) And, I'm definitely not going to mass produce this one either!

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI MIM #303: Holiday Photo Card

So, because I'm busy getting ready for company and didn't really have a photo to use for a Christmas card, I was just going to skip this week's challenge. However, there are so many cool products in Papertrey Ink's November Release that I couldn't pass up the chance to win a gift certificate. Ashley challenged us to incorporate a photo on a holiday card. Isn't her daughter Lauren just the cutest? Since it's just my dear hubby and me, I altered a photo taken at Hoover Dam in May. Tried to print the photo on matte photo paper, but it jammed my printer so I used the sample I printed for sizing and mounted it on card stock. Need I repeat that my Epson printer and I don't get along very well? Anyway, here's my card and now I have to decide which friend or relative will be the "lucky" recipient. This will be one of a kind!

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI MIM #302: Twine & Ribbon Wraps

This week's Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink is presented by Stephanie. She shared ways to use twine and/or ribbon in different ways other than just a knot or bow. Had to think on this for awhile but actually made two cards Friday night (no ink; no stamps), instead of rushing late Sunday night. Besides that, I'm so happy because I've got another Christmas card to add to my stash. Yay for challenges! Once I post this, I'm heading back to my craft room to get creating. Can you believe I haven't touched my Wonderland Kit yet other than to look at its beauty? I must hurry!

PTI MIM #300: Build-A-Wreath

It was Melissa's turn to enlighten us with her talents and challenge us to build a wreath. Believe it or not, my wreath supplies are somewhat limited but I opted to use the one from Make It Market Mini Kit: Lovely Laurels. That's the beginning of my card for this week's Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey Ink. Even though I didn't add all the extras Melissa did, I'm pretty pleased with my results. Another Christmas card added to my stash ~ yay!

PTI Create Along With Us: September 2017

It's that time of the month for Papertrey Ink's new release, and since it's September it's time for their Christmas products. They just never disappoint, do they? It's also our chance to create along with the designers by using their gorgeous creations and/or color schemes for inspiration. How does one choose which one to favor? This time I went with the card below by Michelle showcasing Betsy's new Make It Market Kit.

This is what I came up with using products I currently own. No surprise that I'm eager to get my hands on new sets though as I can't resist their cuteness!

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.
