PTI Make It Monday #127: Double Backgrounds

It's only Friday, and I'm posting my latest creation for this week's Make It Monday.  Dawn McVey inspired us to create a really fun and interesting double background using two different stamps. This was certainly a different challenge out of my comfort zone, but it's healthy to attempt those once in a while. Here's my "wishing you a very happy birthday" card using Crackled and Background Basics: Chevron Stripes for my double background:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Harvest Gold, New Leaf, SU Baroque Burgundy & SU Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Kraft, SU Baroque Burgundy & SU Chocolate Chip
Stamps: Wonderful Words: Birthday, Cracked & Background Basics: Chevron Stripes
Dies: Wonderful Words: Birthday & Birthday Style
Other: Woodgrain Impression Plate & SU Dimensionals

65th Birthday Gift

Just so happens I needed a gift idea for a dear friend's 65th birthday. She's always doing wonderful things for me so I wanted to do something special in honor of her BIG milestone. Hence, I came up with the idea of making my own box, lid and matching card. I'm entering this in the Gift Packaging Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

It's hard to see the tab on the top of the box, but my instructions there suggested she pull on the tab and keep on pulling. Needless to say, she was shocked when bills kept coming out and the denominations were getting bigger. I had taped the bills together and wrapped them around an empty toilet paper roll with a dowel through the center and glued to two sides of the box so it wouldn't drop to the bottom. If I ever give this kind of gift again, I'll make the box shorter. She loved it and was so very thankful. I'm glad it was such a hit!

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: Dark Chocolate, Aqua Mist, SU Ruby Red, Country Charm by diane kappa & White
Ink: SU Chocolate Chip and SU Ruby Red
Stamps: Birthday Style & Background Basics: Polka Dots II
Dies: Half and Half & By The Number
Other: Toilet paper roll, dowel, red sequins, SU Tab Punch & Dimensionals

PTI May 2013 Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo
The challenge this month for Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop is to use the coordinating colors of one of the Bouquet Builders to create a floral card. I chose the orange one mainly because I had substitutes for those PTI colors I don't own…yet:

For something a little different I decided to use the Half and Half die upside down (is there really a right side up), and embossed my sentiment using white embossing powder. The Harvest Gold background texture is PTI's canvas/linen impression plate, and the flower center is the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder from Sizzix. A tiny clear rhinestone is attached to the orange sequin to finish it off.

Edited to Add: Adding this to the Moxie Fab World challenge,  Tuesday Trigger: Scene in TangerineHere's the image source to encourage you to play along:

PTI MIM #111: Watercoloring Embossed Images

Heather Nichols showed us how to watercolor embossed images in PTI's current Make It Monday. Not only am I lacking experience in watercoloring, but I also realized I have very few stamps that would work well with this technique. The important thing is that I made it happen, and it's not bad for a rookie.

Edited to Add:  Adding this card to The Wonder of Watercolor Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
