PTI 9th Anniversary Day 10: Paper Crafting Alphabet

Ever heard of Paper Crafting Alphabet? Well, you have now as explained here by Nichole from Papertrey Ink. The challenge was to use anywhere from the first three to ALL of the letters in your first or last name. Write the letters in a single column on a piece of paper and use the chart on her blog as a reference for each letter. If you have a "double" letter, skip the duplicate letter and move onto the next letter in your name. Use your first or last name, depending on which one has a more interesting array of letters. If you want to keep things simple, use the first three letters of your name. If you want something more complex and challenging, use all of the letters in your name. Doesn't this sound like fun? Well, it was, and I will use this tool for years to come.

My letters worked out like this, and my card is below:

• K = Kraft Card Stock
• A = Add a border
• T = Tie on some twine
• H = Heat Emboss and image or sentiment
• Y = Incorporate a shade of yellow
• M = Mix together two stamp sets

The obvious is my Kraft card stock base. After heat embossing the stems from Botanical Silhouettes in white, I stamped the blooms using Summer Sunrise. Because it didn't show up too well, I restamped a couple times using my MISTI. Wanting them to shine, I also stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed those in clear. They actually appear more brown so my "incorporated yellow" is Harvest Gold for my add a border. To finish the card, I wrapped the front Kraft panel with white crochet thread/twine, attached a little "Thanks" and tied it off in a bow. The two stamp sets I used are: Botanical Silhouettes and Trendy Tree Tops. This wraps up 10 great days of challenges in honor of PTI's 9th Anniversary. What fun! Now I just hope I win one of the many gift certificates because my "want" list is very, very long and expensive.

PTI MIM #186: Partial Die Stamping

What can I saw other than it's late again and past my bed time. Here I am with a much-needed congratulatory card and was just sure I'd find a "congrats" die in my stash. I was determined to participate in this week's Make It Monday at PTI, because Laurie did such a great job of showing us how to stamp on paper and then die cut so only part of the shape is stamped. If you're confused, that's because I am too and it's late. Anyway, here's my card.

PTI 7th Anniverary ~ Day 7 (Stripes)

In honor of Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary, today's challenge on Nichole's blog is to incorporate stripes in our projects. Think she wants us to realize how much easier it would be with the new Cover Plates introduced today. They look really cool and easy to use for vertical, horizontal or diagonal stripes. For my three cards below, colored stripes were adhered to a piece of white cardstock almost the width of my cards before cutting down the heighth.

"Happy Birthday" from Botanical Silhouettes is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink twice, once on the white card base and again on the stripes.

For this one, I used a Rustic Cream card base, scoring two lines on the top and one on the bottom. HAPPY is from Tipped Tops Dies and cut from SU Basic Gray card stock. Since I never confessed to be perfect, I will admit the word "birthday" from Pretty Peonies stamped on SU Really Rust and punched using SU's Word Window punch covers up an error. Lesson Learned: It's not easy stamping a small sentiment over paper seams. Both sentiments were popped up using foam mounting tape.

The two narrow strips were adhered to a Harvest Gold card base. Birthday Wishes stamped with SU Really Rust ink and a Tipped Tops Dies star cut from Hawaiian Shores finish this series.

PTI MIM #138: Inlaid Die-Cuts (Take 2) Thinking of You & SSS: Anything Goes

Once again I tried Betsy's technique of Inlaid Die-Cuts as shown in her video here. Funny how one looks at their dies in a different light and feels the need to buy more. Great marketing scheme, don't you think? I die-cut a Limitless Layers: 2-1/4" Oval from PTI's Harvest Gold (HG) cardstock (saved for another card) and a second one from "Snippets" paper pad from American Crafts for my inlay. After embossing the HG with PTI's Linen/Canvas Impression Plate, I backed that with SU's Baroque Burgundy (BB) before adhering to my white card base. Another strip of "Snippets" and BB were added down the left side. To finish it off, I added a Harvest Gold button with white crochet thread bow, stamped my sentiment and rounded the corners.

PTI Stamp-a-faire 2013: Gallon: Quart: Pint Color Challenge

Looks like this was another successful Stamp-a-faire organized by none other than Nichole Heady & her awesome DT. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to participate yesterday so am rushing with hopes to attempt a few challenges yet tonight. My first attempt is Betsy's theory of color balance to create a project using the gallon:quart:pint concept. Inspired by the colors in a woman's knit top at church, I realized it fit this concept perfectly.

In case it's not obvious, my gallon (most color) is Memento Tuxedo Black, my quart (less color than gallon) is Close to Cocoa and my pint (least color) is Groovy Guava. This was a fun technique and will definitely use it in the future.

Happy 4th

Had good intentions of creating a card for CAS-ual Fridays last challenge using Red, White and Blue but I didn't post it in time. The patriotic colors brought to mind our next holiday, July 4, when we celebrate the birth of American independence. I added some score lines so the #4 would be grounded and used flowers for fireworks.
