PTI MIM #310: Shadowed Sentiments

The current Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink is hosted by product designer, stitching ambassador and newsletter extraordinare, Lizzie Jones. She said she's revisiting the basics, and shadowed sentiments aren't as easy as one thinks they would be…at least not for me. My first attempt had too much space between the two ink colors, but I didn't give up. Here's a card of encouragement for our dear niece, who will undergo surgery on the 1st. (I'd much rather be creating those milestone birthday cards on my to-do list.)

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI January 2018 Blog Hop

Why is it I know the 25th of the month is just 10 days after the release, but I'm rushing to beat the deadline tonight? I even had all kinds of ideas running through my head as soon as I saw the image posted. Check out Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop Challenge here. The festive birthday photo below is this month's inspirational piece.

I had fun ink blending the colors on the balloons and "popping up" my numbers and sentiment for added dimension. Can you believe I'm actually using some of the paper from the BIG sale last year? Me either as I guess I've been saving it for the perfect opportunity, and this is it! Planning to check out later tonight what other participants created for this month's hop.

PTI Create Along With Us Challenge: January 2018

Well, the Design Team at Papertrey Ink is off to a great start with its first 2018 Release and Create Along With Us Challenge. My guess is most of us make more birthday cards throughout the year than any other. Well, let me tell you, they came through with lots of birthday treats. My “I need” list is a really long one after seeing all their gorgeous and colorful creations. My milestone birthday card was inspired by a combination of Lizzie's and Michelle's. I’ll share images of theirs and then mine.

Since I don't have any of the newer Brushed Off dies, I created my mask using two sizes from MFT Rectangle Dies and altered it a bit because it was too long. My Happy Birthday sentiment repeated across the rectangle is stamped using Soft Stone ink. Because I got some excess ink on the lower portion of the card base, I decided to use the edger die to remove it and added my Floral Sketches gray/white strip to the inside of my card. Only probably is they don't stand up so it was even more difficult to get a decent photo.

PTI MIM #309: Heat Embossed Stencil Backgrounds

Yes, it’s Sunday night again, and I just finished my card for Melissa's Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink. Believe it or not, I managed to do some cleaning in my stamping room but I’m not done yet. Had to take time to watch some football today. Did anyone watch the Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints today? I’m just a little partial to the Vikings having been born and raised there. What a game! Sorry, I got a little sidetracked...now back to stamping. Without further ado, here's a sympathy card I needed for a dear friend.

PTI MIM #308: 2017 A La Carte

Happy New Year! This is my first post and first card of 2018.
Where did 2017 go anyway? Here we are with this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge, which is to select one of the many Make It Monday Challenges from last year. I'm pretty sure I participated in each one except the last one in December with Laurie Schmidlin. Look at her "Sending Huge Hugs" with a Faux Stained Glass beauty of colorful hearts.

Because I'm having difficulties getting back into cardmaking after my last-minute, mass production of Christmas cards, I kept it simple. Took me hours to complete this one as it is. I never admitted to being a fast stamper. (LOL) Lots of upcoming birthdays so I thought it wise to choose the sentiment from Graceful Greetings. It doesn't really look like stained glass in this picture but IRL it does. Thanks, Laurie, for the "how to color" in circular motion tips for better results!
