PTI MIM #184: Gold-Dipped Die Cuts (Card #2)

Danielle made such a great video and shared a fun technique that I had to attempt this a second time for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge before the deadline. Besides, I also needed a birthday card for a sweet niece that I need to mail tomorrow. Hope she likes it as much as I do.

Starting with a card base of SU Mellow Moss, I stamped Background Basics: Super Stripes six times using VersaMark ink. Die cut a Fabulous Frame from Rustic Cream and gold embossed the birthday sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday. After adhering that to my card base, I added SU dimensionals to my leaves to give more dimension. My Leaf Print dies were cut from some Fall paper in my stash and tipped with gold embossing. Finished it off with a matching button laced with gold elastic cord and tied into a bow.

PTI Make It Monday #152: Layering Die & Pigment Inks

Heather Nichols shared via video for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday Challenge how to layer die and pigment inks for a different look. Since I only have one pigment ink in my stash, I incorporated that as my background using a stamp from Turning A New Leaf on Kraft cardstock. Three different sizes of mums from Mum's The Word were stamped using Harvest Gold, SU's Pumpkin Pie, with the largest mum die-cut in Kraft and stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed using Zing! Metallic Teal powder. I did the same technique with the sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday only using Vellum. After cutting flag ends on the banner, I adhered it to the mum die-cut and raised that up using foam mounting tape. To finish it off, I added tiny rhinestones on the leaves and the orange flower centers just for a little bling.

PTI's 7th Anniversary ~ Day 10 (Special Delivery)

Today was the final challenge for Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary, and you can see it here. What a ride it's been! Nichole wasn't kidding when she said to use the last ounce of creative energy to create a card and a coordinating envelope. I opted to keep it simple since I'm just finishing now, and it's almost my bedtime. One-layer cards are very challenging for me, but I managed to be successful on this one. I actually like the results, and it's very self-explanatory.

PTI 7th Anniversary ~ Day 5 (Birthday Card Challenge)

Happy Birthday to Papertrey Ink for seven amazing years in business! Today's challenge here is to create a birthday card to be mailed to PTI's warehouse staff to brighten their days while working hard to keep us happy. Because I liked this card so much, I decided to recreate it using a different color combination and sentiment. Since I know this has been a pretty harsh winter in Ohio, I'm hoping to send Spring their way.

I rarely stamp the inside of my cards (mainly because I'm always in a hurry to either mail it or get creating my next card), but this is for a special occasion for extra-special people.

PTI's 7th Anniversary ~ Day 3 (Timer Challenge)

Our challenge today in celebration of Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary is to gather 7 supplies (including ink, paper and stamps) in 7 minutes and create a quick card in 17 minutes or less. WOW, that is moving quickly for this gal who typically creates without a sketch, design or colors in mind. After making seven cards late last night, it was a push to get crafting again today so three is my limit. I'm multitasking now as I type this while watching the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics ~ Go USA!

Have seen several cards in blogland using paint chips and most recently, my online friend Joyce posted one on her blog. I've been saving several different color schemes for quite sometime so decided to use one tonight thinking it would be a time-saver.

Thought I'd make another birthday card because February is a birthday-filled month for me with seven relatives and friends celebrating from the 9th through the 28th (all females but one). I so wanted to put sequins or buttons down the front to make it look like a dress but had to stick to my goal of 7 items.

Since I ran out of steam last night, Erin's printable was the only one I didn't get to complete. Once all the others were used, I could see that my Mat Stack #4 die would work perfectly to capture the entire print. Because I don't have the larger mat stacks for layering, I created by own by die-cutting two from black card stock and cutting one in half vertically and the other horizontally. This was time-consuming as was the fussy cutting of the two little hearts I added to fill the corner and give it some more dimension.

'Tis The Season To Be Jolly ~ Make It Monday #139

Since I need to get started on some Christmas cards, I decided to try Dawn's technique again using border stamps to create a frame. To view Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #139 video showcasing Stamped Square Frames, click here.

Starting with a white card base, I then stamped Boutique Borders: Birthday four times using Simply Chartreuse ink on a smaller piece of white cardstock and adhered it to a piece of Simply Chartreuse which I popped up on dimensionals. The red sequins are placed at the four corners where the borders intersect. Hopefully, I balanced my card by adding a bow of red/white twine just above my stamped sentiment, 'tis the season to be jolly.

Each "ho ho ho" was die cut twice using white cardstock and stamping one of the Half and Half patterns using SU Real Red ink. Each letter was backed by another die-cut in SU Real Red cardstock.

PTI Make It Monday #139: Stamped Square Frames

Thank goodness for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenges or I'd never get any cards made. This week Dawn McVey showed us how to use decorative-border stamps to create focal point frames. My options were limited because the only appropriate stamp set in my stash is Boutique Borders: Birthday. The rest of the border sets are still on my wish list. Anyway, I paired that up with Lovely Layers stamps and dies popped up to fill my frame. Since I needed a "thinking of you" card, I felt the sentiment from Stampin' Up's Thoughts & Prayers looked better than any others. I'm sure my sister will appreciate this as she is a cardmaker too.

PTI MIM #137: Dimensional Leaf Wreath & MFW's TT: Enthralled with Fall

Another Make It Monday challenge on Nichole's blog asks us to make a dimensional leaf wreath. Melissa Phillips showed us in a video how she created her lovely Fall card. I attempted to follow by example and came up with this birthday card wishing a dear friend a fabulous day.

The glitter really sparkles and added a lot to the Turning A New Leaf die cuts that I adhered to a white circle to form my wreath. It's difficult to see here, but the embossed burgundy cardstock is raised up on a white card base, using foam tape. 

I'm also entering this Fall card in Moxie Fab World: Tuesday Trigger: Enthralled with Fall. The gorgeous Fall colors and the leaves helped inspire my wreath card above.

PTI Make It Monday #113: Perfect Pearls

Another challenge from Papertrey Ink that I just had to try was demonstrated by Nichole Heady, and I just had attempt this technique. Hopefully, this qualifies because the only Perfect Pearls I own are the mists, and I just picked those up about a month ago. Perfect Pearl is the color I used, and it definitely adds a pretty shimmer although hard to capture with my camera.

Now that I see this photographed, perhaps I should have made a wider dark chocolate strip to further enhance the sentiment on vellum. Will keep that in mind for next time…because it's too late now to redo.

Birthday Boutique & Butterflies

This birthday card was created based on PTI's Make It Monday #108: Inked Backgrounds shown by  Heather Nichols on Nichole Heady's blog. My card base is PTI's Simply Chartreuse. After stamping two sizes of butterflies from PTI's Beautiful Butterflies stamp set using VersaMark, I heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Using a sponge dauber, I applied several inks in a circular motion until I got the look I wanted. Then I wiped the ink of the embossed butterflies. This was applied to my card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

My sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday was stamped using Memento black ink on vellum cardstock creating a flag banner. To finish it off, I added the black/white twine and tied a bow.
