Stamp-A-Faire 2018

This year's Stamp-A-Faire, "Crafting A Community Garden," was obviously all about flowers. It's been a very busy August for us so I didn't get a chance to participate as much as in previous years. However, I was ready because I cleaned up and rearranged my stamp room just in case time allowed me to create. It rarely stays this way long so thought I better capture it now as my "Welcome" photo.

Even though I had difficulty seeing Dawn's entire process on the Live video, I wanted to tackle her "Planting A Garden" Challenge. She was all about adding color (8 to be exact) and texture (stenciling, stamping and die cutting) to layers of flowers to simulate a garden. Gran's Garden to the rescue! If I would have had the SAF Kit, I would have just duplicated Dawn's card because it's very striking. Instead, I created my own version.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Stamp-A-Faire 2016 Farewell

WOW, what a whirlwind of a weekend it was! With several interruptions, it took me the two bonus days to complete all nine challenges that started on July 23. This was a first-class event sponsored by Papertrey Ink. From Friday night's opener to Saturday night's farewell, I was impressed with all the time, energy and talents of Nichole and her fabulous Design Team. After following them for several years, they still amaze me with all their new tips, tricks and techniques and are the best designers in the industry. Thanks, PTI, for encouraging me to get out of my comfort zone!

Here's one last photo of all the cards I created this weekend. Sorry for the poor photo. I missed the sunshine today as I was in my stamping studio finishing all challenges.

All details are on my previous posts for this year's Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire.

SAF 2016: Color Blocking With Lexi

Last but certainly not least is Lexi Daly sharing how she can create in Andy Warhol fashion. Loved the masking concept and definitely the results so I forced myself to find a stamp that I could use to try this technique. That was challenging enough in itself, but I conquered…even though not Master material. Stamp-A-Faire at Papertrey Ink comes to an end with this challenge. Now the waiting begins till I see my name announced as one of the random winners of a PTI Gift Certificate. (A gal can hope so I remain optimistic.)

Here's my card. It's Christmas in July!

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Soft Stone and Stamper's Select White
Ink: Kraft, New Leaf, Autumn Rose, Pure Poppy and Hawaiian Shores
Stamps: Jolly Holiday and Stylish Sentiments: Holidays
Dies: None
Other: Rhinestones and SU Dimensionals

SAF 2016: Watercolor Like A Master With Kay

Kay Miller truly is the master of watercoloring in my world. Her fabulous, watercolored cards with an artistic flair surely convinced Nichole that she was the perfect one to share her tricks and tips with the stamping world. I enjoyed her video and accent so much I watched it several times, and each time it was a real treat. She is very talented and her creations look flawless.

Here's my card:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Simply Chartreuse
Ink: Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado and VersaFine Onyx Black
Stamps: Mum's The Word
Dies: None
Other: Canson Mixed Media Paper, Paintbrushes and White Foam (Amazon)

SAF 2016: Pointillism Play With Heather

Hmm, Pointillism - ever heard of it before? Heather Nichols says, "It's a technique of painting in which small distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image."

Nichole shares details about this challenge on her blog for Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire 2016.

Here's my card:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Kraft and Stamper's Select White
Ink: Mint Julep, Ocean Tides, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado and VersaMark
Stamps: Mum's The Word, Leaf Prints and Confetti Toss (dots)
Dies: Boutique Borders: Sympathy
Other: New Leaf Bitty Dot Paper, Clear Embossing Powder, White Pigment Ink and Sponge

SAF: 2016: Mastering Drips & Splatters With Lizzie

Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire 2016 challenge by Lizzie Jones captures Jackson Pollock's drips and splatters in the art world. This was by far the messiest challenge of the entire event. My watercolors wouldn't cooperate when trying to add larger drips of paint. I know now I need some reinkers or better watercolors. Never fear though as I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to accomplish this one before the deadline.

Here's my card:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: New Leaf, Summer Sunrise and Stamper's Select White
Ink: Enchanted Evening, VersaMark, SU Forest Foliage Reinker
Stamps: Keep It Simple: Birthday
Dies: Sketched Shapes
Other: Canson Mixed Media Paper, Watercolors, Yarn, Paintbrushes for Splatters and Drips, and SU Dimensionals

SAF 2016: Masterpiece Inspirations With The Team

Another challenge for Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire 2016 was to select one of the Design Team's artistic inspiration piece and create our own. Along with Heather Nichols, I chose "The Green Dancer" by Edgar Degas.

Here's my card:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Kraft
Ink: Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal and Dark Chocolate
Stamps: Painted Petals
Dies: None
Other: White Acrylic Paint Splatters and Paintbrush

SAF 2016: Floral Impressionism With Melissa

Melissa Phillips is a natural for Impressionistic Florals. Her video was so intriguing I watched it several times. This challenge for Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire 2016 was difficult for me because I don't own Floral Sketches or any stamp set that works well with these techniques. However, I gave it my best shot and will try again once I own Floral Sketches.

Here's my card:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Color Pop: Florals Watercolor Paper
Ink: Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Berry Sorbet, Autumn Rose, Harvest Gold and New Leaf
Stamps: Mini Kit: Color Pop Florals and Graceful Greetings
Dies: Graceful Greetings
Other: Foam Tape, White Embossing Powder and Waterbrush

SAF 2016: Gilded in Gold With Danielle

Have you ever heard of Liquid Gold by Plaid? Well, now you have. I had to go to two different craft stores to find it in stock so I guess it's a pretty hot product right now. Of course, it is as Danielle Flanders is right on trend. Our third challenge for Papertrey Ink's 2016 Stamp-A-Faire encouraged us to use liquid gold leafing on a project. Warning: it has a strong smell and cannot be cleaned up with just water! Ask me how I know. : ) The results are just stunning though. Here's my card:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, True Black, Black and White All Over
Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black
Stamps: Scene It: Celebration
Dies: Scene It: Celebration
Other: Nestabilities Scallops and Circles, Coaster Board, Foam Tape, Liquid Gold (from my stash)

SAF 2016: Starry Night with Amy

Amy shared with us her tricks and tips for creating a starry night in an awesome video for an early morning session of Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire. Isn't her Faith card just stunning?

Love her card, and it was fun to try her techniques. My biggest challenge was the tree line, but I didn't have time to redo. Here's mine.

Too much to do, so little time.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White
Ink: Sweet Blush, Mint Julep, Aqua Mist, Blueberry Sky, Smokey Shadow, Winter Wisteria and Hawaiian Shores
Stamps: Through The Trees
Dies: Wet Paint Holiday
Other: Canson Mixed Media Paper, Platinum Embroidery Floss, Silver Glitter Paper, Star Punch, Sparkly Clear Sequins (PPP), Foam Tape, Black Watercolor, Watercolor Brush and White Acrylic Paint (all from stash)

SAF 2016: Master Color Recipes

Talk about beauty in art. The Masters at Papertrey Ink came up with some fabulous artistic masterpieces by famous painters. This challenge is the official kick-off from Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire 2016. We were to choose our favorite color scheme and roll with it.  I selected the bright and bold "Date In The Park" by Leonid Afremov, which represents the color palette below.

Leonid-Afremov-card

Here's my "masterpiece," which I knew before starting I was definitely not a painter or close to it…but I had to try this.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Ink: Scarlet Jewel, Canyon Clay, Tropical Teal, New Leaf, Summer Sunrise and VersaFine Onyx Black
Stamps: Through The Trees and What The Doodle: Feathers

PTI SAF 2015: Pattern, Runway Inspiration and Unconventional Materials Challenges

WOW, I have been one busy gal today but only got six cards made. Didn't want to create too late and not get them posted in time for the challenges for PTI's Stamp-A-Faire so thought I better stop, upload and add them to my blog. For my final card, I chose Laurie's Go-To Pattern #6 and Ashley's Runway Inspiration as shown below.

Laurie

One more challenge I just had to incorporate some way. Even though I don't have my receipt, I did buy these at Home Depot for less than $5 (image below my card). Can you guess what they are by looking at my card? Just might give this one to my DH for our anniversary in October. After 31 years, he's finally getting hardware on his card. (wink, wink)

Well, if you guessed black Magnetic Vent Covers holding up my banners from Sketched Shapes, you are right. Here's a picture of them.

(bought at Home Depot for $4.77 + tax)

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Pure Poppy
Ink: Sweet Blush, New Leaf, VersaFine Onyx Black and Melon Berry
Stamps: Sketched Shapes and With All My Heart
Dies: Sketched Shapes and Jolly Holiday
Other: Studio 112 Red Heart Adhesive Gems, SU Dimensionals and Magnetic Vent Covers (Home Depot)

PTI SAF 2015: More Patterns and Runway Inspiration Challenges

Just had to use Dawn McVey's Go-To-Card Pattern #4 for the Patterns Challenge and also her Runway Inspiration for a thank you card as I continue working on more cards for PTI's SAF.

Dawn

Dawn-recipe

My watercolored background on Stamper's Select White card stock was created using Simply Chartreuse ink smeared on an old CD case spritzed with water. Dawn's card was so beautiful I wanted to create something similar using the color palette above.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Simply Chartreuse
Ink: Scarlet Jewel, Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, Ripe Avocado and Simply Chartreuse
Stamps: Mum's The Word
Dies: Mum's The Word and Edgers Die #1
Other: CD case spritzed with water for watercolored background and SU Dimensionals

PTI SAF 2015: Bridal Challenge

The official kick-off for PTI's Stamp-A-Faire was on Saturday, August 29. The Bridal Challenge was to create a wedding card using nothing but white…except for a neutral ink color for the sentiment. Decided to give this one a try, and I kinda like it.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Sheer Basics Vellum and Luxe Gold Adhesive Sheets
Ink: None
Stamps: None
Dies: Limitless Layers 2-1/4" Hearts and Swoosh
Other: Divine Swirls Embossing Folder

PTI SAF 2015: Another Card for Mix + Match and Threads Challenges

My third card was very challenging for me because I struggled with cutting the right angles for my three patterned papers selected based on what Betsy showed us here for the Mix + Match Challenge. Attached twine to a button in a "new-to-me" way as explained and shown in the video here by Danielle.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores and Lilybee Design Head Over Heels
Ink: Blueberry Sky and Hawaiian Shores (for blending)
Stamps: None
Dies: Uncorked Words
Other: Hawaiian Shores Button, Twinery Twine, Glue Dots, SU Dimensionals, SU Ticket Corner Punch and Blending Tool

PTI SAF 2015: Mix + Match and Threads Challenges

Continuing on creating for PTI's Stamp-A-Faire event, my second card combines the Mix + Match and Threads Challenges. Mixing Patterns by Betsy Veldman and Twine Techniques by Danielle Flanders inspired me to break out my new Triangle Trio Die. Betsy showed us how to use at least three different patterned papers considering small, medium and large designs and cutting the paper to coincide with those same sizes. Danielle showed us 10 different ways to use twine on our projects. Here's what I created.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Studio Calico Here & There Collection
Ink: VersaMark and Dark Chocolate
Stamps: Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
Dies: Triangle Trio and Celebrations
Other: Button, Darice Hemp Cord, Vellum Runner, Glue Dots and Clear Embossing Powder

PTI SAF 2015: Patterns and Runway Inspiration Challenges

Because I was gone all weekend for a family wedding out of state, my Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire participation started today and is ending late tonight. Using Nichole's Go-To Pattern #11 here, I created my first card.

Amy

Starting with Spring Rain ink on white card stock, I blended from the top down and finished with Blueberry Sky. Then I stamped my sentiment in Enchanted Evening matching the colored mat which was adhered to a white card base. Trying to get back in the stamping mode, I used the pattern above and went with it. I also used Betsy Veldman's Runway Inspiration here for my color combination.

Betsy-recipe

So, my card below meets the requirements for the two challenges mentioned above.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Enchanted Evening
Ink: Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening
Stamps: Reasons To Smile
Dies: Jolly Holiday
Other: Masking Tape, Glue Dots and SU Dimensionals
