Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 3 (Transformation Tuesday)

Here we are at the third day of Papertrey Ink's 11th Anniversary celebration. You can read about all the details here on their blog. Can you even imagine winning a Year of Stamps from PTI? I sure can't, but if I did, you'd hear me rejoicing all across the country. 

Here's my Nail Polish Marbling card from a Make It Monday last March that was a total bust so I saved the two-toned die cut and tossed the rest. The polish just peeled and chipped and was a mess. Sorry, Lizzie, but I don't plan on trying that technique again anytime soon. 

Now I've made several changes and created a much nicer birthday card that I actually feel comfortable sending to a friend, who has a February birthday.

PTI MIM 277: Nail Polish Marbling

Lizzie is the gracious host of this week's Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink. On her blog, she shared lots of tips for attempting this technique. You can get other details on Nichole's blog. 

Because it's been so busy with all the 10th Anniversary Festivities at PTI, I was going to skip this challenge. It's not that I don't like to try new techniques, but I just didn't think I had time so I didn't buy any new nail polish. Since I caught up with all the other challenges so far, I decided to attempt it. Well, let me just say that Insta-Dri polish pools up too quickly and doesn't "marble" well but I went with it anyway. It isn't pretty, wouldn't swirl and turned flakey but it qualifies for a chance at a $25 PTI gift certificate. No time for a redo. Sorry!

Create Along With Us: November 2016

Since this past week was Papertrey Ink's November Release, we're invited to create along with the Design Team. Details can be found here. There was so much inspiration once again it's a challenge for me to pick just one. PTI MIM # 253: Reverse Stenciling

Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday this week, Reverse Stenciling, is hosted by Betsy Veldman. She makes it sound so easy and suggests we grab a favorite stencil and a couple ink pads and play along. Here's her beautiful card.

Since I only have Modern Background Stencils and those from the Color Pops Floral kit, this is what I came up with using a brayer and Harvest Gold ink. Punched the four corners using SU's ticket corner punch, tied on some twine and popped up the Shaped Sayings: Birthday die cut before adhering it to a white card base using SU Dimensionals. I also splattered a bit of SU Taken With Teal using a marker & spritzer.

It isn't one of my favorites but turned out okay. Don't have time now to redo because we're on our way to Yellowstone for a little sightseeing.

PTI MIM #251: Gradient Watercolor Die Cuts

This week for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday Challenge we're blessed with the presence of Dawn sharing tips for creating gradient blending with watercolors on die cuts. Aren't her cards just beautiful?

 

I really had hoped to create something totally different but wanted to try her technique using a cover plate die. Believe it or not, my stash is limited to the Hexagon Cover Plate so I went with it. Here's my interpretation of her technique even though my colors didn't blend as well as Dawn's.

Ink: Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (4 shades of green)
