Stamp-A-Faire 2018

This year's Stamp-A-Faire, "Crafting A Community Garden," was obviously all about flowers. It's been a very busy August for us so I didn't get a chance to participate as much as in previous years. However, I was ready because I cleaned up and rearranged my stamp room just in case time allowed me to create. It rarely stays this way long so thought I better capture it now as my "Welcome" photo.

Even though I had difficulty seeing Dawn's entire process on the Live video, I wanted to tackle her "Planting A Garden" Challenge. She was all about adding color (8 to be exact) and texture (stenciling, stamping and die cutting) to layers of flowers to simulate a garden. Gran's Garden to the rescue! If I would have had the SAF Kit, I would have just duplicated Dawn's card because it's very striking. Instead, I created my own version.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Thursday was Day 4 of Papertrey Ink's 11th Anniversary festivities and challenges. Have you seen the beautiful anniversary stamp set the Design Team created as a collaborative effort? It is fabulous and so versatile. You can see the florals and the details of the contest here. The instructions say to pull out your favorite floral set and create.

My current favorite is Gran's Gardens so here's what I created.

I'm writing this post early because we're traveling for Thanksgiving and don't want to miss the opportunity to participate in this month's Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink. Here is the beautiful inspiration piece for this month's challenge.

My eyes went right to the plaid napkin on the table, the gold "gather" centerpiece and the fall decor on the chair. This is my creation, and I have just the person in mind to receive it. Hope she likes it!

Hope everyone had a delicious feast and fun with friends and family over Thanksgiving!

PTI MIM #299: Sentiment Windows

Well, apparently I'm on the same schedule as Sunday Night Football. Here I am again just finishing my card and posting before this week's deadline for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. Sentiment Windows is Dawn's challenge where we allow our sentiment stamped inside the card to also be part of our card design. Yes, I made a bigger deal out of this than I should have, but I do like the end result. And, I used some of my hoarded PTI patterned paper. Thanks, Dawn, for the inspiration!

As you can see below, the berries inside were covered by the acorns adhered to the card front.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

SAF 2017: Take Ten Warm-Up Challenge

Well, it's time for Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire 2017 this weekend, and we're starting off with a bang (even though Nichole referred this as a warm up). She provided ten inspiration photos from which we could choose one of the images or color schemes. The toughest part was choosing which one to use because they are all beautiful. It will be a busy three days and then some so I'll quit the chatter and move forward. I chose this image:

After getting word that a fine young man went off to college and is a bit homesick. Mail always seems to help cheer them up, and a card will have to do for now. I'll follow up with a care package once SAF is over. A gal has got to have her priorities straight, right?

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

Nichole always comes up with such beautiful images to use as inspiration whether it's the design or the colors. This month is no exceeption. You can read more details here

Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge

The September Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink means we're only three months from Christmas Day. Time to get your "Kraft" on and think about buying and wrapping gifts. Fortunately, at this point in my life I don't need to do that much any more, but I do like to make my Christmas cards. What a great photo imspiration to jumpstart that mojo!

simple ideas for christmas gift toppers

Here's my creation based on the image above. Yay, one more Christmas card done!

Because I don't "yet" own a pinecone stamp, I had to get a bit creative so I stamped dark chocolate berries topped off with a shimmery Gelly Roll pen. My black card stock was lightly sponged with white pigment ink, wrapped in twine and adhered to a white card base. Some of the greenery is popped up using SU Dimensionals, as are the berries. The tag was tied to the twine so it's floating freely. To coordinate with the white edges of my die cuts, I stamped just the "laughter" banner of the sentiment using black ink on white. That was adhered to the Kraft tag stamped in black ink.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments. Looking forward to seeing all the fabulous creations during this hop!

PTI MIM #233: Splattering

Another week, another Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge here. This week we're honored to have Danielle Flanders share a couple ways of adding ink splatters to cards and tags. She makes it look so easy, but I found I didn't really have control of the splatters using a reinker and "flicking" the paintbrush. It definitely adds to the finished project though so I guess I'll keep practicing. Here's my card, and I'm happy to add another Christmas card to my pile.

I seem to have a problem putting away my new Spruce & Sprigs stamps and dies. They really are so versatile, especially for whipping out Christmas cards. I've got several cards to go to reach my goal so I'm cutting this short. Eager to find time to see what others have "splattered."

PTI MIM #232: Layered Stamping On Kraft

Dawn showed us how to to get bright, fun colors when stamping on Kraft card stock in this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday. I'm sorry I didn't find time earlier in the week to try this technique because I definitely need practice. I left too much white showing, but otherwise I kind of like it.

Starting with a white card base and a layer of Scarlet Jewel, I added my Kraft using SU Dimensionals and Ticket Corner Punch. My images were first stamped in White ink, allowing time for the pigment ink to dry. Then I stamped the leaves in Ripe Avocado, the berry branch in Scarlet Jewel and the pine bough in Raspberry Fizz. The cluster of berries was stamped in Delicata Silvery Shimmer. The sentiment from Deck The Halls was stamped in Scarlet Jewel ink. My final step was flicking some white watercolor over the Kraft for a light, snowy effect. Yay! I have another Christmas card done.

PTI MIM #230: Cover Plate Watercoloring

I know, I know, I can't believe it either. Today is only Monday, and I watched Ashley's video on Nichole's blog for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday. It was all about using a cover plate with watercolors. Well, that was pretty easy since I only own the Hexagon one, but what to do with it was the real challenge at hand. Without any further excuses, here's my card.

I taped my Hexagon Cover Plate mask down pretty well with painter's tape and held it in places while I watercolored some of the hexagons in two colors. Then I misted the card with the mask still in place using Perfect Pearls Mist. Die cut Spruce and Sprigs, stamped with Scarlet Jewel and Ripe Avocado inks, and Peace from Wet Paint Holiday three times for dimension. The white card base was covered with a layer of Spring Rain and the watercolored piece was popped up using foam tape. It's definitely not on the same level as Ashley's, but I completed the challenge the best I could with supplies I had.

Glossy Berries for Christmas

Couldn't wait to ink up my new Papertrey Ink Spruce and Sprigs stamp set, along with some ink blending. The holly berries really pop once coated with Glossy Accents. Here's my card for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: So Glossy.

I created a mask using a circle die from my Nestabilities, and blended Berry Sorbet ink for the backdrop to my holly leaves and berries, coated with Glossy Accents. Using a paintbrush and my Aqua Mist ink pad, I splattered the white card base to coordinate with the Holiday Plaid card stock edge. My sentiment from Stylish Sentiments: Holiday was curved to somewhat surround the circle. This was adhered using Stampin' Up Dimensionals to raise it up from the card base.
