Ink To Paper Laurie's Fabulous Favorites (Framed Sentiments)

This week Laurie Schmidlin challenges us to create a card using our favorite way to frame a sentiment. Rather than on the Papertrey Ink Blog, the challenges are now posted on the Ink To Paper Blog here.

Lately it seems like I've been using white card bases for the most part so decided to deviate from that on this thank-you card. Here's my version of a framed sentiment.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI's Laurie's Fabulous Favorites (Favorite Shaped Card)

This week at Papertrey Ink the Win It Wednesday Challenge from Laurie is to create a project using a shaped card base.

She had me thinking all week of what else I could use besides my new Scallop Stackers: Medium Die. Well, after two attempts trying to use my Noted: Scalloped A2 Die (full-size A2 one pass) in my Big Shot and failing, I resorted to the lovely stacker. Always in need of birthday cards, here's what I ended up creating.

PTI November Blog Hop Challenge

Why is it I never seem to have the right stamps for these challenging? No candy cane stamp whatsoever. Guess I'll have to remedy that so it doesn't happen again. Anyway, it's time once again for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop. Here's the image to inspire us.

The shade of blue ribbon is like none of the blues I own so I capitalized on the red and white with a touch of Blueberry Sky. My holly was stamped in Pinefeather with red berries. This is the card I created that looks just like a gift box all decked out for Christmas.

Happy Hopping! I can't wait to see what others created based on the above photo.

PTI October Blog Hop Challenge

Well, well, how did this happen already? It's the 25th of October and time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge. Happy Pumpkin Season! That's exactly the inspiration image for this month's challenge.

I stretched my liberties by opting to go with Fall foliage on Kraft card stock and lots of polka dots in lieu of pumpkins.

Have fun hopping!

PTI Transformation Tuesday with Lizzie Jones

What better way to transform an older card with newer products by entering Papertrey Ink's Transformation Tuesday Challenge. Because I'm in need of a sympathy card and it’s the Fall season, I decided to use leaves instead of butterflies. Mission accomplished.

PTI MIM #336: Faux Gilded Leaves

Let me start off by saying how fabulous Laurie Schmidlin's gilded leaves look on her beautiful card. She used three colored embossing powders to achieve this plus clear for the veins. It is stunning! Laurie shared her technique for gilding leaves for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday

For once I have the actual stamps and dies she used so I opted for the Leaf Prints, but will now view other stamps with this technique in mind. I'm sure other stampers came up with some awesome ideas that never occurred to me. Here's my design, and I know my dear friend will appreciate this card.

Here's a close up of the leaves so you can really see the gilding. The middle leaf is popped up using Stampin' Up Dimensionals.

PTI MIM #314: Color Wheel Cards

Let's just say this was one of my favorite lessons regarding the color wheel. Thanks to Lexi, she challenged us to create color wheel cards but not necessarily a rainbow. You can see the details here for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge. It's only Friday (have a funeral tomorrow and company arriving tomorrow night) but I actually created two very different cards using the color-wheel (ROYGBV) concept. Here we go.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted):
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Soft Stone and Black
Ink: Soft Stone, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Bright Buttercup, Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores, Amethyst Allure, New Leaf and VersaFine Onyx Black
Stamps: Bitty Bouquets, Garden Grace and Celebrations
Dies: MFT Stitched Rectangles, Bitty Bouquets, Noted: Scalloped A2 and Wonderful Words: Birthday
Other: Violet Zig Clean Color Real Brush and Ink Blending Tool

And the second card was a bit more challenging trying to get the floral images positioned along the cut edge of the card, but I like the results.

Here you can see a little better what I mean about the cut edge and flowers adhered to overhang the opening.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

As I'm sitting here watching the Closing Ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics, I'm entering my card for this week's Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey InkLaurie showed us how she adds frames to her projects to highlight sentiments or images. Isn't her work just beautiful?

I managed to complete another birthday card for one of many needed next month, and this is it.

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 3 (Transformation Tuesday)

Here we are at the third day of Papertrey Ink's 11th Anniversary celebration. You can read about all the details here on their blog. Can you even imagine winning a Year of Stamps from PTI? I sure can't, but if I did, you'd hear me rejoicing all across the country.

Here's my Nail Polish Marbling card from a Make It Monday last March that was a total bust so I saved the two-toned die cut and tossed the rest. The polish just peeled and chipped and was a mess. Sorry, Lizzie, but I don't plan on trying that technique again anytime soon.

Now I've made several changes and created a much nicer birthday card that I actually feel comfortable sending to a friend, who has a February birthday.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI MIM #310: Shadowed Sentiments

The current Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink is hosted by product designer, stitching ambassador and newsletter extraordinare, Lizzie Jones. She said she's revisiting the basics, and shadowed sentiments aren't as easy as one thinks they would be…at least not for me. My first attempt had too much space between the two ink colors, but I didn't give up. Here's a card of encouragement for our dear niece, who will undergo surgery on the 1st. (I'd much rather be creating those milestone birthday cards on my to-do list.)

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI MIM #299: Sentiment Windows

Well, apparently I'm on the same schedule as Sunday Night Football. Here I am again just finishing my card and posting before this week's deadline for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. Sentiment Windows is Dawn's challenge where we allow our sentiment stamped inside the card to also be part of our card design. Yes, I made a bigger deal out of this than I should have, but I do like the end result. And, I used some of my hoarded PTI patterned paper. Thanks, Dawn, for the inspiration!

As you can see below, the berries inside were covered by the acorns adhered to the card front.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI Create Along With Us: September 2017

It's that time of the month for Papertrey Ink's new release, and since it's September it's time for their Christmas products. They just never disappoint, do they? It's also our chance to create along with the designers by using their gorgeous creations and/or color schemes for inspiration. How does one choose which one to favor? This time I went with the card below by Michelle showcasing Betsy's new Make It Market Kit.

This is what I came up with using products I currently own. No surprise that I'm eager to get my hands on new sets though as I can't resist their cuteness!
