PTI MIM #336: Faux Gilded Leaves

Let me start off by saying how fabulous Laurie Schmidlin's gilded leaves look on her beautiful card. She used three colored embossing powders to achieve this plus clear for the veins. It is stunning! Laurie shared her technique for gilding leaves for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday. 

For once I have the actual stamps and dies she used so I opted for the Leaf Prints, but will now view other stamps with this technique in mind. I'm sure other stampers came up with some awesome ideas that never occurred to me. Here's my design, and I know my dear friend will appreciate this card. 

Here's a close up of the leaves so you can really see the gilding. The middle leaf is popped up using Stampin' Up Dimensionals.

PTI MIM #299: Sentiment Windows

Well, apparently I'm on the same schedule as Sunday Night Football. Here I am again just finishing my card and posting before this week's deadline for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. Sentiment Windows is Dawn's challenge where we allow our sentiment stamped inside the card to also be part of our card design. Yes, I made a bigger deal out of this than I should have, but I do like the end result. And, I used some of my hoarded PTI patterned paper. Thanks, Dawn, for the inspiration!

As you can see below, the berries inside were covered by the acorns adhered to the card front.

PTI Create Along With Us Challenge: April 2017

It's been a busy Holy Week plus we celebrated a BIG milestone birthday in my honor. Where does the time go? Seems like it was just Christmas and now it's Easter Sunday already. The ham is in the oven and smelling delicious. 

Create Along With Us at Papertrey Ink means we select a project that inspired us and create our own. With so much lovely inspiration from all the designers, it's challenging just to choose one. Being short on time, I picked what I thought would go fairly quickly and loved the colors Nichole used. Without further ado, here's what I created.

Ink: Harvest Gold, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Smokey Shadow and Soft Stone

I chose the wrong sentiment on this second card with the itty bitty dots over the i's. Those tiny pieces cut from each color were challenging to adhere to each other even with my handy dandy, pick-up tool. My inspiration came from Keeway here.

Papertrey October Blog Hop Challenge

Today is October 25 and time for another Blog Hop Challenge at Papertrey Ink. Can't let an opportunity like this pass, especially with this beautiful inspiration photo. So, I'm sneaking in a little crafty time before I start baking for our company.

Here's my card and I'm pretty sure my aunt will appreciate this for her 91st birthday. 

Even though it's hard to see, I scored the Soft Stone card stock and swiped it back and forth with some Soft Stone ink and a paint brush to create the wood panel look. The leaves were ink blended, and the veins stamped. Added some glossy accents to the berries and popped up the acorns. Added the sentiment in Terracotta Tile, adhered to a Dark Chocolate layer, which is attached to a white card base. Hope to find time tonight to hop along admiring all the gorgeous projects showcased on Nichole's blog today.

PTI MIM #263: Background Building With Frames

Amy Sheffer shared with us how to build a background using frame die-cuts for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. Didn't think I'd find time to attempt this technique as we had a busy week. We also drove to Richland, WA for the weekend to meet up with other relatives to watch two nephews (Senior & Sophomore) from Idaho participate in a Cross-Country Track Meet Saturday. The Senior finished second in his division so that was a very proud moment. Enough of my life...now on to my card.
