PTI MIM #339: Patterned Frames

This week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday is hosted by Ashley, and she showed three different cards adding patterns to a die-cut frame. I loved her examples, but of course, I don't own any of the frames she used. To the drawing board I went, and this is what I created. Chalk one up for another Christmas card completed!

PTI Create Along With Us Challenge: August 2018

This challenge allows us to select something the PTI Design Team created during the August Release that inspired us and create our own version. Once again there were so many gorgeous Fall projects it was hard to choose. Loved the beautiful layers and design used by Kelly Lunceford on Day 4 of this month's release. Isn't this beautiful?

Because I don't own any of the new products, I improvised with what I do have and varied the colors somewhat on my card below. It's still a birthday card and a masculine one at that. Thanks, Kelly, for inspiring me!

PTI MIM #322: Above & Below

This week Lizzie shared one of her personal favorite techniques and challenged us to do the same. Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday shows us how to add die cuts above and below your sentiment strip or die cut to add emphasis. Here's Lizzie's example and then my entry.

One of these days I'm going to follow Dawn's lead by die cutting several embellishments in different color schemes to have them ready. Then I can have fun piling on the layers and rearranging them until I'm satisfied. I did a little of that for this card.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI MIM #321: Ink Blending on Colored Card Stock

Yes, I know it's only Friday night, and I'm posting my card already for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday hosted by Melissa Phillips. Her samples and details for the challenge can be seen here. She definitely has the finesse for lots of layers and her seam binding bows are always beautiful. Mine is very simple as I'm supposed to be packing for our trip to visit my family.

PTI MIM #314: Color Wheel Cards

Let's just say this was one of my favorite lessons regarding the color wheel. Thanks to Lexi, she challenged us to create color wheel cards but not necessarily a rainbow. You can see the details here for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge. It's only Friday (have a funeral tomorrow and company arriving tomorrow night) but I actually created two very different cards using the color-wheel (ROYGBV) concept. Here we go.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted):
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Soft Stone and Black
Ink: Soft Stone, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Bright Buttercup, Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores, Amethyst Allure, New Leaf and VersaFine Onyx Black
Stamps: Bitty Bouquets, Garden Grace and Celebrations
Dies: MFT Stitched Rectangles, Bitty Bouquets, Noted: Scalloped A2 and Wonderful Words: Birthday
Other: Violet Zig Clean Color Real Brush and Ink Blending Tool

And the second card was a bit more challenging trying to get the floral images positioned along the cut edge of the card, but I like the results.

Here you can see a little better what I mean about the cut edge and flowers adhered to overhang the opening.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White
Ink: Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, TH Spiced Marmalade, Orange Zest, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal, Winter Wisteria, Royal Velvet, Green Parakeet and VersaFine Onyx Black
Stamps: Floral Sketches, Painted Petals and Penned Elegance

Other: Black Watercolor (splatters), Paint Brush and SU Dimensionals

As I'm sitting here watching the Closing Ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics, I'm entering my card for this week's Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey InkLaurie showed us how she adds frames to her projects to highlight sentiments or images. Isn't her work just beautiful?

I managed to complete another birthday card for one of many needed next month, and this is it.

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 10 (Stripes Challenge)

What fun challenges the gals at Papertrey Ink came up with in honor of their 11th Anniversary! Today's challenge is Stripes because the number 11 looks like two stripes standing next to each other. You can see more details here

I pretty much kept up on all the challenges until this one but then life got in the way helping others who needed me. Yesterday was to be my day, but it was windy here in Western Washington and lost power from 1-11:30 pm so that pretty much took care of Saturday. My DH started the generator but it only supports the important appliances and lights in some rooms (not my stamping room). Was washing clothes and had dinner in the crockpot so had to make some adjustments before going to Mass last night.

Today it snowed most of the day with an accumulation of only two inches at our house. It's chilly but at least no wind today.

Anyway, on with my striped card!

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 5 (Retirement List Challenge)

On Day 5 of the 11th Anniversary of Papertrey Ink, they announced the Retirement List of Stamps will be all gone after May 15. Today's challenge was to create a project using a stamp set from the Retirement List. Believe it or not, I only have about 12 of those sets, and I chose Beautiful Butterflies to make a birthday card. Thought it would be fun to do some "smooshing" since I haven't done that technique in quite awhile.

PTI MIM #310: Shadowed Sentiments

The current Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink is hosted by product designer, stitching ambassador and newsletter extraordinare, Lizzie Jones. She said she's revisiting the basics, and shadowed sentiments aren't as easy as one thinks they would be…at least not for me. My first attempt had too much space between the two ink colors, but I didn't give up. Here's a card of encouragement for our dear niece, who will undergo surgery on the 1st. (I'd much rather be creating those milestone birthday cards on my to-do list.)

PTI Create Along With Us Challenge: January 2018

Well, the Design Team at Papertrey Ink is off to a great start with its first 2018 Release and Create Along With Us Challenge. My guess is most of us make more birthday cards throughout the year than any other. Well, let me tell you, they came through with lots of birthday treats. My “I need” list is a really long one after seeing all their gorgeous and colorful creations. My milestone birthday card was inspired by a combination of Lizzie's and Michelle's. I’ll share images of theirs and then mine.

Lizzie's

Michelle's

Since I don't have any of the newer Brushed Off dies, I created my mask using two sizes from MFT Rectangle Dies and altered it a bit because it was too long. My Happy Birthday sentiment repeated across the rectangle is stamped using Soft Stone ink. Because I got some excess ink on the lower portion of the card base, I decided to use the edger die to remove it and added my Floral Sketches gray/white strip to the inside of my card. Only probably is they don't stand up so it was even more difficult to get a decent photo.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI MIM #309: Heat Embossed Stencil Backgrounds

Yes, it’s Sunday night again, and I just finished my card for Melissa's Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink. Believe it or not, I managed to do some cleaning in my stamping room but I’m not done yet. Had to take time to watch some football today. Did anyone watch the Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints today? I’m just a little partial to the Vikings having been born and raised there. What a game! Sorry, I got a little sidetracked...now back to stamping. Without further ado, here's a sympathy card I needed for a dear friend.
