Happy Birthday Butterfly

Just finishing in time for the approaching deadline of Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Splash It On. Anyway one can incorporate water into a project qualifies for this challenge. I did some brown and white watercolored splatters on my yellow card base. I think this one qualifies for a masculine birthday card, which can be a bit more difficult than the usual floral creations. The brown rectangle, popped up using foam tape, is woodgrain embossed with an oval cut out of the center. A vellum butterfly adorns the corner of the frame, to which I added four yellow Nuvo drops to hide my foam tape. Here's my card.

PTI MIM #278: Window Chipboard Sentiments

Stephanie is sharing her very first Papertrey Make It Monday Video for this week's challenge. The first challenge I saw was what word die to use that would allow the card to open and close properly without tearing the paper. My choice of "happy" from Pretty Peonies wasn't the best decision but I went with it anyway. I really like my card but the little pieces won't withstand opening and closing too many times. PTI Create Along With Us: December 2016

Couldn't miss the opportunity to participate in another challenge after seeing all the great inspiration throughout December's Release at Papertrey Ink. The goal is to choose one or more projects posted by the Design Team to create our own version. It's challenging just deciding which one to tackle because they are all beautifully done.

This week I selected this beauty of Dawn's from her December Release Wrap-Up but changed the color scheme and improvised with older products from my stash. It's such a thrill to see her creating and posting on her blog again. Yay, Dawn! (still praying though)

Here's the get-well card I created by stamping the Floral Sketches with VersaMark and heat embossing with white powder. Then my Zigs came into play for the two sizes of flowers. New Leaf ink was used to stamp the leaves and then colored over with my Aqua Brush for that watercolored look. Thanks, Dawn, for the inspiration!

Papertrey August Blog Hop Challenge

My first thought was to get out my paintbrushes, but instead I pulled out my new Garden Gate stencil and ink blending tool. This is what I came up with blending Melon Berry and Distress Spiced Marmalade. My sentiment is done in Enchanted Evening. I also blended a bit of Enchanted Evening on the Vellum leaves. Added in five sequins for a little bling.

Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

This month's inspiration photo is so technical it will be very interesting to see how each person interpreted what they saw. Hopefully, some of the fabulous DT members will find time to join in with their take on the challenge on Nichole's blog. Look at this beautiful design!

I will be really curious to see the amazing creations because even though several Forum posts indicated this was a rough one, I know they will rock it. My ink blending using the negatives of Large Circles Nestabilities was done on Vintage Cream card stock. Here's my take. 

The Vintage Cream layer is popped up using Foam Tape onto the Kraft card base. I almost left the "bulls-eye" plain but just had to dress it up a bit with that beautiful Vellum butterfly. To tie the sentiment together, I layered Pure Poppy under the Kraft "birthday" Swoosh die-cut. The red on Kraft "Happy" was traced with my Gelly Roll Glitter Pen, even though it's difficult to see here.

Actually, I salvaged my first attempt at ink blending multicolored circles, one color blended on top of the other. Hence, I decided to make a second card using my circle inlaid die after stacking three white layers beneath the colored. The top white layer popped up using SU Dimensionals was dry embossed using Linen/Canvas Impression Plate. With the sentiment stamped in Black, I had to add some paint splatters that Kay Miller does so well. The small, loopy pink flower die cut is one I got from Sandy when she did a Forum giveaway. Thanks, Sandy!

PTI MIM #244: Score Lines

Laurie shared her favorite tips and tricks of adding score lines for additional detail and texture. Let me tell you, she has this technique mastered. Stop by Nichole's blog here to watch Laurie's helpful video and try the challenge yourself. She showed some other cards she made sharing a variety of ways to add score lines.

I'm sure there will be lots of great inspiration from the challenge entries so let's get on with my card.

The top white layer has been scored at a diagonal on the 1/2-inch marks in both directions with an oval die cut in the middle. This was adhered to the Bitty Dot paper with white foam so the flowers could be more free floating. I sponged Hibiscus Burst along the outer edges of the card base. Added my sentiment on a banner and finished the card using three sequins and glitter pen highlighting. Can't wait to check out what others have created tomorrow!

PTI 7th Anniversary ~ Day 1 (Color & Sketch Challenge)

This challenge was actually announced on the first day of Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary, but we have until 7 am EST on February 15 to post our creations. They've kept us so busy with each day's challenge I didn't get to try any of the recipes provided until now.  Our task was to select any one Color Recipe Card and one Sketch Recipe Card from the seven options shown for our project. There's no limit to how many combinations we use or cards we make. Since I have three cards to share and a long post, let's get started.

My third and final card for today is a special birthday card for my husband's aunt, when she turns 90 later this month. It's hard to see in the photo but the patterned paper has tiny, pink hearts so I felt the punched hearts and rhinestones finished it off nicely. Here are the recipes I used:
