PTI Create Along With Us: June 2017

Oh my, another great release by Papertrey Ink and so much inspiration again this month! Our challenge the week of release time is to select a project that inspires us to create something similar in design, technique and/or color scheme using older products we already own. It's challenging in itself to decide on an inspiration piece because they are all glorious. This month I chose one by Wanda that you can see here.

She used the new Textile Impressions, but the only set I own with something similar is Sketched Shapes. Since I had no idea what design to use for a 60th wedding anniversary, I went with this. Isn't that something worth celebrating?

On the same day we celebrate a milestone anniversary, we have a Celebration of Life to attend. Another friend lost his battle to cancer. Anyway, based on Dawn's card below, I went with a similar design and a different color scheme.

Here's my sympathy card. I'm patiently waiting for this month's release order to get To The Point Edger Dies in my hot little hands.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI MIM #275: Stamped Dangles

Amy introduced us to "dangles" in the card-making environment. She made it look so easy here on Nichole's blog for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday. Let me just say, I scoured my stamp sets trying to find jewlery-like embellishments just so I could play along. One more challenge to cross of my list. I'm needing to rebuild my stash of birthday cards, anniversary, sympathy and get-well wishes. Bring on this month's challenges for Papertrey Ink's 10 years in business.

Here's my version of stamped dangles:

PTI MIM #267: Assembly Line Card-Making

This week I'm playing along with Laurie and Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday, where she challenged us to create cards assembly-line style. They didn't have to be for Christmas, but what better time to bang out several at one time. Thanks, Laurie, now I've got my Christmas card designed for this year. Here it is:

The image below shows supplies I used and multiples of each piece I needed stamped or die-cut to create six cards of the same design and color scheme. After running Scarlet Jewel card stock through my Big Shot with the MFT Stitched Rectangle Dies, each was attached to a white card base. Sweet Blush was cut using Edgers #3, and the sentiment was stamped in Scarlet Jewel ink. Silver glitter paper was cut to size and adhered to the top and bottom edges. The white wreath die-cut was stamped in Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink with the berry sprigs in Scarlet Jewel. The Sweet Blush ribbon was also stamped using Scarlet Jewel. A dab of silver glitter glue was added to the bow's center.

My first prototype I decided to pop up the ribbon, but on the other five I popped up the wreath instead. Below you can see my set of six, and now I need to make a whole lot more.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI 9th Anniversary Day 9: Saturday Snail Mail

The 9th day of PTI's 9th Anniversary brought another fun challenge here. We were to create a card for the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G warehouse staff at Papertrey Ink and mail it to them. In additon, they just started a new hashtag campaign, #saturdaysnailmail, for social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I'll definitely mail the card and hope to post on Twitter as don't have Instagram or Facebook accounts. This will be an ongoing campaign for Saturdays. We'll see if I remember to do this in the future.

My card pretty much says it all as I truly do appreciate the PTI staff more than they know. They are always willing to respond to customer service inquiries and make things right, wrap and package our goodies safely and quickly, restock items as soon as possible and brightens our day when USPS or UPS drops by with a delivery. Thanks for another great year and look forward to many, many more!

PTI Create Along With Us: July 2015

Thanks to Betsy Veldman Papertrey Ink has started a new challenge where we select something the design team has created and use it for inspiration. The entries for this inaugural challenge can be found here.

Because I needed some sympathy cards (three to be exact), I was inspired by Dawn McVey's "Feel Better" card shown here where she showcases her new Vintage Linens stamp set.

DSC_6510.1

Hibiscus Burst and Pure Poppy are not two colors I would layer even though I've seen lots of beautiful stamped images using them. I just had to try it for myself and after using Rosie Posie, I now realize Vintage Linens is a must-have set (not that I could ever duplicate the one and only Dawn McVey). Here's my card and thanks to MISTI I was able to stamp three in the time it would normally take me to make one. Thanks, Dawn, for the inspiration! There are lots more that inspire me so I am thrilled with this new challenge and will keep this bookmarked.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White and Hawaiian Shores
Ink: Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores and Simply Chartreuse
Stamps: Rosie Posie, Rosie Posie Step 2, Boutique Borders: Sympathy and Harvest Berries
Dies: Edgers #3
Other: Wink of Stella

PTI MIM #198: Three-Panel Cards

It's not unusual for me to be posting my Make It Monday card at the last minute, but it's not very often I enter two challenges in one day (the other being Papertrey's January Blog Hop). Ashley shared her talents with us in a great video explaining how to create three-panel cards from half a sheet of 8-1/2"x11" card stock. Some of you know I've been struggling with a card design for our dear friend's grandson who achieved the level of Eagle Scout. We will be attending his Court of Honor this Saturday so I needed a special card for him, and this challenge fit the bill. Here's the front of my three-panel card:

The white with blue stars background paper I printed from my computer because I sold all my SU inks and don't own any blue ink…yet. Block alphabet dies were used to personalize this for Drake. This top portion was die cut using Edgers #3. The red stripes were stamped using Background Basics: Super Stripes after using my computer to print the words "Eagle Scout" on the white card base. A blue star from Fancy Flakes Dies was adhered to cover up a bit of red that bled onto my white stripe. (I know I should have kept that a secret.)

(and here's the inside)

"Dreams Believed and Dreams Achieved" from For The Graduate were heat embossed using white embossing powder. It closes with velcro (that's the circle you see above the word "dreams"), but it's so strong I'm not sure I like that. The "Congratulations You Did It!" middle section is a perfect place to write a personal message. A pocket attached to the bottom section will hold a gift card, cash or personal check. This was adhered with Scor-Tape.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, SU Real Red & SU Night of Navy
Ink: Pure Poppy & VersaMark
Stamps: Background Basics: Super Stripes, Boutique Borders: Congrats, and For The Graduate
Dies: Block Alphabet, Edger Dies #3 and Fancy Flakes (star only)
Other: Printer (white w/blue star paper) and Eagle Scout (on front of card), White Embossing Powder, Velcro Circles (stash) and Scor-Tape

PTI 7th Anniversary ~ Day 1 (Color & Sketch Challenge)

This challenge was actually announced on the first day of Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary, but we have until 7 am EST on February 15 to post our creations. They've kept us so busy with each day's challenge I didn't get to try any of the recipes provided until now.  Our task was to select any one Color Recipe Card and one Sketch Recipe Card from the seven options shown for our project. There's no limit to how many combinations we use or cards we make. Since I have three cards to share and a long post, let's get started.

Pictured are the Color and Sketch Recipes I used for this fun birthday card.

My second card is a sympathy card, which I hope I don't have to use anytime soon but prefer having at least one ready and available when needed.

My third and final card for today is a special birthday card for my husband's aunt, when she turns 90 later this month. It's hard to see in the photo but the patterned paper has tiny, pink hearts so I felt the punched hearts and rhinestones finished it off nicely. Here are the recipes I used:
