PTI November Blog Hop Challenge

Why is it I never seem to have the right stamps for these challenging? No candy cane stamp whatsoever. Guess I'll have to remedy that so it doesn't happen again. Anyway, it's time once again for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop. Here's the image to inspire us.

The shade of blue ribbon is like none of the blues I own so I capitalized on the red and white with a touch of Blueberry Sky. My holly was stamped in Pinefeather with red berries. This is the card I created that looks just like a gift box all decked out for Christmas.

Happy Hopping! I can't wait to see what others created based on the above photo.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI MIM #342: Envelope Bags with Patterned Paper

Didn't think I'd have time this week to try Lexi Daly's challenge for this week's Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday so I'm rushing to beat the deadline and also my bedtime.

The old bag-elopes have made a comeback by using patterned paper instead of an envelope. Same concept, new idea! I had to be very careful while folding my scored lines as to not tear the paper. Perhaps it's a bit easier with a tad-bit thicker patterned paper than my old Bitty Dots. Thanks, Lexi, for the inspiration and awesome refresher!

Nothing fancy but I've completed the challenge, and one bag is ready for goodies.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Ink: Raspberry Fizz

PTI Transformation Tuesday with Lizzie Jones

What better way to transform an older card with newer products by entering Papertrey Ink's Transformation Tuesday Challenge. Because I'm in need of a sympathy card and it’s the Fall season, I decided to use leaves instead of butterflies. Mission accomplished.

PTI May 2018 Blog Hop

Well, here we are again on the 25th of the month and time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. It's a little chilly here today in Western Washington, but this inspiration photo defines summer. My days of camping have long passed, but I have fond memories of all the fun times we had.

The tablecloth and colorful flowers inspired me to create an anniversary card. Thanks to the recently-purchased Bitty Big: True Black I didn't have to stamp my own gingham.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge

The September Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink means we're only three months from Christmas Day. Time to get your "Kraft" on and think about buying and wrapping gifts. Fortunately, at this point in my life I don't need to do that much any more, but I do like to make my Christmas cards. What a great photo imspiration to jumpstart that mojo!

simple ideas for christmas gift toppers

Here's my creation based on the image above. Yay, one more Christmas card done!

Because I don't "yet" own a pinecone stamp, I had to get a bit creative so I stamped dark chocolate berries topped off with a shimmery Gelly Roll pen. My black card stock was lightly sponged with white pigment ink, wrapped in twine and adhered to a white card base. Some of the greenery is popped up using SU Dimensionals, as are the berries. The tag was tied to the twine so it's floating freely. To coordinate with the white edges of my die cuts, I stamped just the "laughter" banner of the sentiment using black ink on white. That was adhered to the Kraft tag stamped in black ink.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments. Looking forward to seeing all the fabulous creations during this hop!

PTI Create Along With Us: September 2016

We just returned from a fun vacation in the great state of Tennessee so I am way behind in blogland. In fact, I hurriedly skimmed through the DT's posts to find a card that inspired me so I could participate in this week's Create Along With Us Challenge. Now the hardest part is selecting only one because I want to CASE them all...and when I have more time, I intend to do this. My favorite day of posting was the Christmas Faith post on September 12, even though I ended up making a birthday card. Not that I could ever come close to creating Melissa's style, but she inspired me with this card of hers.

Here's my birthday card with a similar design.

PTI MIM #258: Cover Plate Tags

Playing along with this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink. This week it was Laurie's turn to share something new with us by using cover plates to create tags.  My options are pretty limited with only one tag die and one cover plate, but I made it work like she showed us. The trick was to line up the cover plate over the tag so it looked good, and then die-cut it using the tag die. Her video here shows how to accomplish this. Because the tags are so small and the cover plate full card size, I made two different ones.

Below are individual photos of each tag.

PTI MIM #241: Ombre Stenciled Backgrounds

It's time for another Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink. This week Betsy Veldman showed us how to obtain nice, even color using blending sponges and how to add some pattern using the new stencils. Her colorful and striking card showcases Tulip Time from PTI's February Release. Since I recently received my latest order from Papertrey, I had to take a stab at this technique so I'd know how to use the new Modern Background Stencils. Here's what I made and looking forward to more stenciling.

For the first time, I used white foam to add dimension to my "Cheers" die cut. Both the foam and glittered paper were run through my Xyron before die cutting to make it easier to adhere them to each other and also to my card. It was a little tricky because of the delicate word die, but probably still easier than adding foam tape. The black strip of paper with the white embossed sentiment is also raised up, but for this I used SU Dimensionals.  Now I remember why I seldom use white embossing powder on black card stock because no matter how I "prepare" the paper, the powder tends to stick where nothing has been stamped. The twine bow and three pink adhesive gems finished my card.

PTI September Blog Hop Challenge

Love the results of Faux Chalk Art when combined with the right colors and sentiment. Betsy Veldman is the queen of this technique and showed how to do this in a video for Make It Monday #98. This month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge on Nichole's blog here is to incorporate fall colors and images surrounding our faux chalkboard as shown in the beautiful photo below.

I'm well ahead of the deadline because we're heading on vacation to visit family over the next couple of weeks. Going to "schedule" this post to see how well that works for me. Anyway, here's my take on the challenge.

PTI MIM #223: Camouflaged Pocket Inserts

Guess what? It's Sunday night and I'm entering the challenge demonstrated by Dawn McVey for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. She showed us how to make pocket inserts and camouflage them. She posted this last Monday, but this is my first chance to create since last Sunday. Where does the time go? It sure has been flying by quickly these days.

Here's my card that includes a bit of watercoloring by misting Spring Rain and Blueberry Sky inks on the pocket and blending Hibiscus Ink on the insert. If you look closely, you might just see some WOS Shimmer on the wreath and the flowers.

This photo shows the camouflaged pocket insert. See, it was camouflaged!

Papertrey Ink's 8th Anniversary Gift Tag (Day 3)

Today's challenge on Nichole's blog in honor of PTI's 8th Anniversary was to create a handmade tag for a matching gift bag. It's not very often I make tags because even if I use a gift bag, I usually include a homemade card. However, my Tag Sale #9 dies were staring me in the face wanting to be used. Here's my tag (both layers) as I was creating it.

Tag before I tied it together with twine.

Tag attached to gift bag.
