PTI MIM #332: Petite Pattern Play

I swear each week goes by faster and faster and the temperatures get hotter and hotter. We finally have a bit of a cool down here in Western Washington, and we're heading to Yakima for a wedding today. Praying it's not too hot over there.

Anyway, I'm rushing again to get this card posted for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday before we leave. Michelle Leone challenged us to experiment with some smaller images to create a pattern. Another way to get more bang for our buck from stamp sets in our collection. Needing an anniversary card, which I seldom make, this technique seemed to work OK for what I wanted.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

PTI Create Along With Us: June 2017

Oh my, another great release by Papertrey Ink and so much inspiration again this month! Our challenge the week of release time is to select a project that inspires us to create something similar in design, technique and/or color scheme using older products we already own. It's challenging in itself to decide on an inspiration piece because they are all glorious. This month I chose one by Wanda that you can see here.

She used the new Textile Impressions, but the only set I own with something similar is Sketched Shapes. Since I had no idea what design to use for a 60th wedding anniversary, I went with this. Isn't that something worth celebrating?

On the same day we celebrate a milestone anniversary, we have a Celebration of Life to attend. Another friend lost his battle to cancer. Anyway, based on Dawn's card below, I went with a similar design and a different color scheme.

Here's my sympathy card. I'm patiently waiting for this month's release order to get To The Point Edger Dies in my hot little hands.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI Make It Monday #271: 2016 A La Carte

Nichole refreshed our memories of every 2016 Make It Monday Challenge by Papertrey Ink. The A La Carte means we can choose any one of the weekly technique videos to create a project. You can see the technique I chose, Make It Monday #244: Score Lines, done by Laurie Willison. This is a great way to add a little extra detail and texture. I apologize that it was difficult to photograph at night showing the various lengths of vertical score lines from the top to the Bold Blossoms. Here's what I created:

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Basic Black and Bold Blossoms Watercolor Sheet

PTI February 2015 Blog Hop

If it wasn't for Papertrey Ink and their design team, I'm not sure I'd squeeze time in my stamp room. This month's Blog Hop challenges us with a beautiful inspiration piece to get creativity flowing. Well, that's just what it did for me. Here is our inspiration:

Now I've never had an artistic bone in my body, but it's fun to try sometimes. The only cover plate I own is Hexagons so that made an easy decision for starting my design. Using sponge daubers and ink pads, I very carefully sponged on white card stock with the white die-cut of the Hexagon Cover Plate carefully taped down so nothing would move. I used six different ink pads (listed below) in random order and before removing the die-cut, I spritzed it with water and let it dry. Added some layers for texture and dimension with a little bling, and this is my end result. Have lots of March birthdays coming up so I hope the recipient likes it.

Had I been able to create this and photograph it in daylight, the colors would be more accurate. Believe it or not, the "happy" die cut is really SU Elegant Eggplant, but it looks more black or dark brown.

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Tropical Teal, SU Pixie Pink, SU Elegant Eggplant and Vellum
Ink: Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, Royal Velvet, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal
Stamps: Wet Paint
Dies: Hexagon Cover Plate, Half & Half, Wet Paint Cuts and Sizzix Embosslits Beautiful Wings
Other: Rhinestones (Studio G), Glue Dots and SU Dimensionals

Papertrey Ink's 8th Anniversary & Maile Belles Inspiration (Day 2)

Friday was the second day of PTI's Anniversary Festivities which challenged us to seek inspiration from Maile Belles' creations and find one to recreate. It was hard to choose because I just love her style, and she was instrumental in me "needing" to buy Watercolor Wonder. This first card was a fun one because it is very similar to card stock in her newly-created paper pad. Here's my card:

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted)

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White
Ink: Tropical Teal, Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush, Harvest Gold, Aqua Mist and Memento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Watercolor Wonder and Wet Paint
Dies: Tipped Tops
Other: Enamel Dots (Michaels) and SU Dimensionals

I was on a roll after perusing Maile's blog here so I recreated her third card from the same post last March. Here's mine:

Edited to Add: Both cards are also being entered in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, All Things Bright and Beautiful

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White
Ink: Berry Sorbet, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold and Sweet Blush

PTI MIM #190: Stamping A Plaid Background

Yes, another week and another month has passed us by. It's time for another Papertrey Ink Make It Monday challenge. Ashley created an excellent video tutorial for us to follow her lead. She makes it look so easy. I've never had good luck stamping a second time or stamping off to get a lighter shade of the same ink color. Love the idea but I definitely need more practice. Here's my card:

Taking Ashley's advice I stamped on a larger piece of Stamper's Select White card stock than I actually needed for my card design. Now I have another piece the same size to create another card later. Using Basic Backgrounds: Super Stripes, I used Canyon Clay and Ripe Avocado inks for my plaid background.

Die cut the word "thanks" using Wet Paint Cuts Dies and SU Always Artichoke card stock. You might be able to see better in the photo below that I raised the plaid panel and the "thanks" using foam mounting tape. I also scored a line above and below the panel but it doesn't show in either photo. To finish my card, I stamped "for everything" in Ripe Avocado ink on the white card base.
