PTI February 2018 Blog Hop

This is what you call really beating the clock with my entry for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. The idea is to use their inspiration photo to create a project. So cute!

PTI MIM #312: Framing Sentiments & Images

As I'm sitting here watching the Closing Ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics, I'm entering my card for this week's Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey InkLaurie showed us how she adds frames to her projects to highlight sentiments or images. Isn't her work just beautiful?

I managed to complete another birthday card for one of many needed next month, and this is it.

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 10 (Stripes Challenge)

What fun challenges the gals at Papertrey Ink came up with in honor of their 11th Anniversary! Today's challenge is Stripes because the number 11 looks like two stripes standing next to each other. You can see more details here

I pretty much kept up on all the challenges until this one but then life got in the way helping others who needed me. Yesterday was to be my day, but it was windy here in Western Washington and lost power from 1-11:30 pm so that pretty much took care of Saturday. My DH started the generator but it only supports the important appliances and lights in some rooms (not my stamping room). Was washing clothes and had dinner in the crockpot so had to make some adjustments before going to Mass last night.

Today it snowed most of the day with an accumulation of only two inches at our house. It's chilly but at least no wind today.

Anyway, on with my striped card!

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary- Day 8 (Color Challenge)

The 8th day of Papertrey Ink's 11th Anniversary festivities is all about Color Combinations based on the Design Team's posted projects. Our challenge is to choose one of the color palette recipes provided on their blog post here. This is the “recipe” I chose, inspired by Laurie Schmidlin.

One of the Bold Blossoms Watercolor Sheets and my Zig Brushes needed some love. Hence, another birthday card was born. For those colors that didn’t quite match up with my Zigs, I used ink pads swiped on an acrylic block, misted and then painted with a brush. The sentiment was stacked three deep, and then I coated it with Glossy Accents to make it shine. This is it.

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 7 (Use Only Dies - No Stamps)

We're already past Day 7 of Papertrey Ink's 11th Anniversary, but I'm just posting my card now. The challenge was to create a project using only dies - no stamps! I know I've done this before and not intentionally, but once I thought about it awhile I was grasping for ideas without using flowers. Some of those die-cuts don't look as good without stamping on them. Another milestone birthday card has been completed now using only dies and some bling.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Bright Buttercup, Amethyst Allure, Amethyst Allure+White Basics, Hibiscus Burst and Green Parakeet

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 5 (Retirement List Challenge)

On Day 5 of the 11th Anniversary of Papertrey Ink, they announced the Retirement List of Stamps will be all gone after May 15. Today's challenge was to create a project using a stamp set from the Retirement List. Believe it or not, I only have about 12 of those sets, and I chose Beautiful Butterflies to make a birthday card. Thought it would be fun to do some "smooshing" since I haven't done that technique in quite awhile.

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 4 (Floral Card)

Thursday was Day 4 of Papertrey Ink's 11th Anniversary festivities and challenges. Have you seen the beautiful anniversary stamp set the Design Team created as a collaborative effort? It is fabulous and so versatile. You can see the florals and the details of the contest here. The instructions say to pull out your favorite floral set and create.

My current favorite is Gran's Gardens so here's what I created.

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 3 (Transformation Tuesday)

Here we are at the third day of Papertrey Ink's 11th Anniversary celebration. You can read about all the details here on their blog. Can you even imagine winning a Year of Stamps from PTI? I sure can't, but if I did, you'd hear me rejoicing all across the country.

Here's my Nail Polish Marbling card from a Make It Monday last March that was a total bust so I saved the two-toned die cut and tossed the rest. The polish just peeled and chipped and was a mess. Sorry, Lizzie, but I don't plan on trying that technique again anytime soon.

Now I've made several changes and created a much nicer birthday card that I actually feel comfortable sending to a friend, who has a February birthday.

Thank you for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments!

Papertrey Ink 11th Anniversary - Day 1 (Sketch Challenge)

The month we've all been waiting to help Papertrey Ink celebrate their 11th Anniversary. Where has the time gone? It's always exciting to see what's new and participate in the variety of challenges and contests for 10 days in February.

Our first challenge was to choose one of the great sketches provided to create a project. The sketch I chose belongs to Dawn, who we've been praying for (and still are) before and after her small intestine transplant in DC.

This is the year of milestone birthdays for friends and family members. My dear hubby's family has lots of longevity in his family. One of his Mom's two sisters still living will be 100 on February 28, and she got her driver's license renewed last year for five more years.  (Yes, she still drives, just not on freeways anymore). She certainly deserves a special card!

PTI MIM #311: Using Different Types of Paper

Well, it's time again for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday, and Stephanie is this week's host for the challenge. Yes, she wants us to use different types of paper (things we found in our home) besides just card stock. Let me just say, I am SO glad I started this three days ago because I just couldn't get the right combinations. Guess that's why it's called a challenge, right?

Here are some of the supplies I started with when brainstorming. However, the only three things I used were the recycled notecard of pansies, the foil tissue paper and the green corrugated paper.

And then I searched high and low for other miscellaneous items I could use after I "wrapped" the pansies with the foil tissue. Still in my stamping room, I had saved this (almost) Hawaiian Shores padded envelope from Lynda and the bag from a LSS, which just recently went out of business. I cut down the padded envelope and also cut a narrow strip from the green corrugated paper.

Think I should have used the gold "Make Life Beautiful" portion as my sentiment, but instead I cut off the top of the bag with the pinked edge.

Here's the reveal of my card, and I'm actually quite happy with the end result. Good thing I wasn't charging someone by the hour for this card, but rather that I will give it to a dear friend (with an explanation of why I used recycled goods). It will make her day!

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.
