PTI MIM #288: Pantone Chip Inspired Cards

Rushing to beat the deadline for this week's Make It Monday with Lexi for Papertrey Ink. It was too darn hot (mid-high 90s) in Western Washington to even think about creating anything until this evening. That is very rare here so most of us don't have air conditioning so it can be unbearable. Earlier this week my DH had me helping him paint our two decks and main entryway, including umpteen spindles. So glad that's over with for a few more years!

Anyway, the challenge was to be inspired by Pantone ink chips for our design and layout. This will be a technique I'll keep in the back of my mind for future quick and simple cards. Thanks, Lexi, for sharing this with us. Here's my take on the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really do appreciate your comments.

PTI Blog Hop Challenge June 2017

How can it be the 25th of June already? It seems like it was just Christmas! Anyway, it's time for another Blog Hop Challenge at Papertrey Ink. Here's the lovely inspirational piece provided on Nichole's blog.

Because we had such a busy Saturday scheduled, my mind told me I needed to get this card made Friday night and ready to post for Saturday's blog hop. Apparently, I was skipping over the 24th...thinking Saturday was the 25th, and it was way past my bedtime when I finished. Without further ado, here's my card.

I started with a Stamper's Select White card base and added a strip at the bottom to ground my vases. This strip was embossed using the Linen/Canvas Impression Plate and then blended with Soft Stone ink and a blending tool. The vases were also ink blended with Melon Berry and Pinefeather, respectively, to which I added Glossy Accents for a watery effect. The Bitty Bouquet die cuts were stamped using Melon Berry, Bright Buttercup and Simply Chartreuse. I paint splattered some Pinefeather ink on the card base before assembling the card. One flower stem and the Melon Berry vase are adhered using SU Dimensionals. And that's a wrap.

PTI Create Along With Us: June 2017

Oh my, another great release by Papertrey Ink and so much inspiration again this month! Our challenge the week of release time is to select a project that inspires us to create something similar in design, technique and/or color scheme using older products we already own. It's challenging in itself to decide on an inspiration piece because they are all glorious. This month I chose one by Wanda that you can see here.

She used the new Textile Impressions, but the only set I own with something similar is Sketched Shapes. Since I had no idea what design to use for a 60th wedding anniversary, I went with this. Isn't that something worth celebrating?

On the same day we celebrate a milestone anniversary, we have a Celebration of Life to attend. Another friend lost his battle to cancer. Anyway, based on Dawn's card below, I went with a similar design and a different color scheme.

Here's my sympathy card. I'm patiently waiting for this month's release order to get To The Point Edger Dies in my hot little hands.

PTI MIM #287: Baby Wipe Inking

It's been years since I tried the technique of using reinkers with baby wipes. Now I know why. Not only did I have inky fingers but my first two attempts at trying to create stripes for a nice plaid background were a bust. Therefore, I followed Ashley's lead in this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday and created flowers using SU Mauve Mist Reinker. My colors are limited because I haven't bought any reinkers since first buying Stampin' Up inks years ago. Since I stamped the Splits using Delicata Silvery Shimmer Ink on vellum, I added a strip of Soft Stone card stock to help the Green Parakeet embossed sentiment show up a little better. Duh, as I'm typing this post I just realized I used a paper towel instead of a baby wipe. No wonder my stripes looked ridiculous! Hopefully, it still qualifies for the challenge because I don't have time to recreate another card. We're leaving town early in the morning for the weekend to attend our grandnephew's high school graduation, and I still have to pack. This is it.

PTI MIM #286: Coordinating Card Pairs

Having been on vacation a week ago, I missed out on last week's challenge so I was eager to play today. Stephanie showed how she created two coordinating cards from one stamp set for this week's Make It Monday here on Nichole's blog. I cheated a little bit by using two sets because the sentiments in one just did not work for my coordinating designs. However, I used the same color scheme with mums and leaves on both. Here's what I created.

Coordinating Pair

One-Layer Thinking of You

Popped up the middle mum and leaves while the rest of the die-cuts are flat.
